Sensei Alan at Richmond Castle.
This fortress in Yorkshire was built by Alan Rufus around 1070 and was thereafter bequeathed to his younger brother also called Alan.
Neither of these early Alans would have believed that their grand design would still be standing almost 1000 years later being guarded by another Alan!

The annual South Notts Open Tennis Championship has been described as 'kumite with racquets'. The action on court was not disimilar to the action later in the dojo - dynamic, exciting with no quarter asked or given!

Perfect weather conditions for today's 5 Dojos Charity Bike Ride 2026.
Following a warm up of the five heian katas the intrepid cyclists set off from Keyworth before spinning along quiet south Nottinghamshire lanes visiting all five local KUGB dojos en route.
Returning by the banks of the river Trent a warm welcome from Caroline and Denis in West Bridgford town centre turbo charged the home leg.
All money raised will be donated to the volunteer doctors at EMICS, the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme.
