Great battle last Sunday against NG8 Ressies (formerly Carlton Top Spot Ressies), but if we’re honest, the biggest battle of the morning was getting 11 men on the pitch!

After the squad list went out, it looks like everyone saw the numbers and thought “yeah, I’ll give that one a miss.” Saturday night had 20 men, Sunday morning had 10. Classic.

One lad even managed to go to the wrong address, leaving us with 10 at kick-off. Thankfully Ben Rimmer came to the rescue, turning up 20 minutes in and doing us a massive favour.

Onto the game, and we started brightly, getting on the front foot early doors. NG8 eventually found their rhythm though, moving the ball nicely at the back before finding a tidy through ball for their striker to finish.

We got ourselves back into it with some great work between and Stan, with Stan rounding the keeper and slotting home.

Second half was a proper battle. We had chances, pressed their keeper into a couple of mistakes, cleared one off the line and forced another decent save. They had their moments too and nearly nicked it right at the death, only to see one crash back off the crossbar.

Considering the depleted squad, a few last-minute recruits and a hard, sunny morning, the lads put in a proper shift.

And it’s brilliant to have Stan Logan back involved this season. A constant threat all game and deservedly picked as MOTM by the referee.

and young were also excellent in midfield and put in a massive shift.

Going down to 10 men after just 10 minutes isn’t ideal, especially in preseason (busy ref!), but it made for a proper battle and a great test

It was incredibly close, and you could’ve made a case for any of the 10 men still on the pitch. But Bashy Blue Eyes just edges it after arguably his best performance in a Rangers shirt. Outstanding from start to finish.
A special mention also goes to who was immense alongside him in midfield and played a huge part in the result.

Result from two Sundays ago saw Rangers fall to defeat in a game of two half’s thanks to the windy conditions

All Rempstone first half seeing them go into the half 2-1. All Rangers in the second half, but some great defending and keeping saw them come away with the result.

Fair play Bulwell City Football Club who remained competitive until the final whilst. All the best for the rest of the season

A tough morning in the sun against a very good side playing for an even greater cause. Losing your goalkeeper in the warm up and carrying a few sore heads isn’t the ideal preparation, but excuses don’t win football matches and it wouldnt have made any difference to the result…

We found ourselves 4-0 down through a mixture of quality from the opposition and lessons we still need to learn.

To our credit, the lads kept going. Dàñá showed some tidy feet to pull one back and remind everyone why you never stop working, regardless of the scoreline.

Forever Ghost stretched it to 5-1 in the second half and over the ninety minutes they were the better side. No complaints.

That’s what pre-season’s for. Minutes in the legs. Fitness in the tank. Lessons in the notebook.

A newly formed team with a great cause. Come down and show your support 🟣

Seven goals scored. Five conceded. Plenty to smile about. Plenty to scratch your head over.

After missing enough chances to put the game to bed, we gifted Norfolk Park a penalty before finding our rhythm to go in 3-1 up at the break.

They pulled one back early in the second half, but the long awaited return of the first teams Scottish Wizard brought a bit of calm to the chaos in the second half. Two goals and an assist later, it looked like the job was done. Not bad for a 45 minute cameo

This is Sunday League though.

Norfolk Park scored directly from kick-off with an effort from the halfway line, then added another two in quick succession to make everyone just a little bit nervous.

Thankfully, we found one more to get over the line.
