“Spanning 1980 to 1991, the letters are from the autumnal months when his father’s fashion business took him to Hong Kong. “Initially, they’re overwrought, with a noticeable, regular vein of h***y stuff,” Edwards discloses. “But around 1986, 1987, my mum accuses my dad of not being as romantic as he used to be. Then, in the same letter, she acknowledges receipt of a dozen red roses. And I remember thinking, ‘I’ve gone out with my mum before …’”

“This is a beautiful, polished, passionate show blending classical music and stand-up comedy, which is also about classical music, and stand up comedy, and what it means to make art, and be human. Aidan – dressed as Chopin – tells us he’s been working on the show for a while, and so this is somewhat a rarity in Edinburgh: a show that’s had time to mature and settle, where a performer can be so comfortable with the material they can focus entirely on sharing their passion.”
