The morning after the day before…
And what a day Norwich gave us.
Nearly 9,000 runners completed Run Norwich yesterday, but it wasn’t just the number of people running that made it special - the city came out in force.
The crowds, the noise, the volunteers, the support around the course.
It was another reminder of what a brilliant running event we have right here in our city.
There were some incredible performances too.
Our own Logan Smith came agonisingly close to the win after a race for the ages with Jonathan Escalante-Phillips, setting a new road 10K PB in the process. Congratulations Logan - some run.
What about Daisy Glover, producing a superb performance to set a new women’s course record - congrats Daisy.
But Run Norwich isn’t only about the sharp end.
If you are one of those thousands of runners waking up with slightly heavier legs this morning, take a moment to appreciate what you did yesterday.
Maybe you got your PB, maybe it didn’t quite go to plan.
Maybe simply getting around those 10K was the achievement.
Race day gives you an enormous high and sometimes the day afterwards can feel a little flat.
So enjoy what you achieved and be proud of it.
Then?
Start thinking about what comes next. 👊

This is it… Run Norwich day.
The training is done, the shoes are chosen and the number is pinned on.
There’s nothing left to do now except go and enjoy it.
Whether you’re chasing a PB, running your first 10K or simply hoping to make it up Rose Lane without questioning every decision you’ve ever made, today is your day.
Take in the crowds, enjoy running through our fine city.
High-five the kids, thank the volunteers, and when it gets tough, remember why you signed up in the first place.
One final tip from us: don’t race the first mile. The excitement and the crowds will make it very easy to think you’ve suddenly become considerably fitter overnight.
Cruel to be kind: You haven’t… save something for later.
Good luck to everyone running Run Norwich today.
Have a brilliant one and we’ll see you out there.

Running Run Norwich tomorrow? A few last-minute tips.
Don’t get carried away in that first mile. With the crowds and the downhill start, it’s very easy to go out harder than you planned.
Be patient on the climbs. Rose Lane gets plenty of attention, but don’t burn too many matches trying to force the pace uphill.
Use the downhill sections. Relax, let the legs turn over and take some time back without forcing it.
When it starts hurting, which it will so prepare for that feeling, remember there’ll be plenty of support around the course to drag you towards that finish.
Most importantly - enjoy it.
Run Norwich is a brilliant day and the atmosphere in the city is a huge part of it.
If you suddenly realise you’re missing something for tomorrow, we’re open at Sportlink today until 5pm for any last-minute race-day bits.
Good luck everyone!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Brooks Ghost AMP trial evening this week.
It was brilliant to see so many of you getting the new Ghost AMP on your feet, heading out for a 5K and finding out for yourselves how they feel on the run.
And, of course, there was a pair of Brooks Ghost AMP up for grabs…
Congratulations to Mark Goddard, whose name was drawn as our winner.
Thanks again to everyone who came along and to Brooks for joining us.
We hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did.

It’s Run Norwich week…
Which would normally be perfect timing for Logan to be feeling absolutely flying.
Instead, he’s spent the last week trying to shake off an illness while continuing to run anyway. Sensible? We’ll let you decide.
There have been some very encouraging signs though - including a session featuring two 5Ks and a 15:14 parkrun.
In Episode 19 we look ahead to Run Norwich, go through Logan’s latest training and debate whether he should actually have been doing half of it.
Mark is also back from Chamonix after watching wife, Alison complete the OCC at UTMB, while elsewhere we cover strides, trail runners, an argument over an out-of-control dog and possibly the most important discussion yet - where to find Norfolk’s best cinnamon bun.

Our Joma competition winner is race-day ready!
It was great to welcome Hannah Daniel into our Taverham Superstore this week to pick up her Joma race kit ahead of Run Norwich this Sunday.
Hannah was our competition winner and also got to choose someone to join her - with Mark Elms getting the call.
So both Hannah and Mark will be lining up on Sunday in their new Joma kit.
Good luck to you both - we hope you have a brilliant race!
Good luck* to everyone else taking on Run Norwich this weekend.
We’ll see plenty of you out there.
* don’t worry about Rose Lane… you’ll get through it 😉 👊
