Our last BUCS event of the year happened over the weekend in Leeds which was the BUCS Snooker Championships. UEA previous winners of the main championship and individual championships in 1998 and 1999. Had a team competing for the first time in 15 years.

UEA finished top of their group beating Durham 2's 3-2, Sheffield 1's 4-1, Strathclyde 1's 3-2 and St Andrews 2's 3-2. Drawing UCL in the quarter final we managed to beat them 6-0 and move into the semi-final where we played Strathcylde 1's which we won 6-0. Having drawn York 2's in the final of the Shield we narrowly lost 3-2. Gaining 41 BUCS points for the university.

Individual performances go out to Adeeb Moosa who lost to Dan Devlin (Exeter) the eventual winner 2-1 in the last 32. Nikolas Charalambous who lost to Stephen Maguire (Queens) 2-1 in the semi final. With Charalambous also making the highest break of the event and join highest ever recorded break at the championships with a max attempt of 112.

Thank you to all the friends and members of the club for the support over the weekend it was greatly appreciated.

We have recently returned from our national championships with UEA fielding three men teams and one women team. Our first team drew four games out of five while losing there other one unfortunately not progressing to the knockouts. The seconds couldn't continue the fine form from the Southern championships and failed to enter the knockouts. The third team had some of the most success of the event, finishing second in their group and beating Surrey 2nd's in a tense play off, narrowly losing to Manchester 1st's 6-3 in the following round.

The girls team finished top of the group beating seeded team St Andrews along the way to finishing top of the group. only to lose on a fluke to Nottingham Trent in the knockout rounds.

Our individual players also had some great performances with Amit Mistry losing 4-3 to Hertfordshire firsts player in the last 128, while Josh Edwards went down in the Last 64 and Nikolas Charalambous losing to eventual winner David Farrel from Strathclyde in the last 32.

The club would like to thank for all of the support from past members at the event and to new ones.

UEA had its first team at the recent Midland University Snooker Championship in Rugby last weekend. Losing narrowly 3-2 in three games and 4-1 in the other they proved they can compete at the higher levels. N.Charalambous won the individual competition while A.Moosa and L.Anders lost in the last 32.

BUCS Pool next weekend in Great Yarmouth. Good luck to all four teams entered.
