The things my job has made completely normal.

Talking about placentas over coffee.
Getting excited about pelvic anatomy.
Owning a demo pelvis.
And yes… a knitted uterus.

Apparently, I’m this person. 😂
And honestly? I love it.

Baby & Muma Yoga is back 💜✨

There’s something lovely about having somewhere to go where you don’t have to have it all together.

A place where baby can feed, wriggle, sleep, cry or join in… and you can just be you. 🌿

Our Baby & Muma Yoga sessions return Tuesday 25th August, 1–2pm at Cringleford Willow Centre.

These are gentle, relaxed sessions designed for both of you:

🌿 Gentle postnatal yoga to move, stretch and reconnect with your body
🌿 Simple soothing techniques to help settle baby
🌿 Singing, bonding & relaxed play
🌿 Time to meet other mums who are in the same boat
🌿 A chance to pause, breathe and feel a little more like you

Suitable from around 6 weeks postpartum to 9 months-ish

And there’s absolutely no pressure for baby to behave! 😂
They can sleep. Feed. Cry. Wriggle. Watch. Whatever they fancy.

You just turn up as you are. 🤍

Come for the yoga. Stay for the connection, the little moments, the giggles and the exhale.

💌 Message me to book your space or head to my website.

🌿 Birth A–Z | L is for Letting Go 🌿

Sometimes the strongest thing you can do during birth is LETTING GO. 💜

Let go of the idea that your birth has to look a certain way.

Let go of comparing your experience to someone else's.

Let go of the tension you're holding in your jaw, shoulders, hands and pelvic floor.

And, perhaps the hardest one...

Let go of needing to control every single moment.

Birth can be unpredictable. You can prepare, plan and make informed choices, but you can't always know exactly how your story will unfold.

And that's okay.

You can still choose how you breathe.

You can choose how you respond.

You can choose who surrounds you.

You can choose to ask questions, change your mind and make decisions as things unfold.

Letting go doesn't mean giving up.

It means releasing the things that aren't helping you and using your energy to work with your body rather than fighting against it.

When you feel safe and supported, your body can release hormones such as oxytocin and endorphins that support labour and help you cope with its intensity.

So soften your jaw.

Drop your shoulders.

Take a breath.

And remind yourself:

"I don't have to control everything. I just have to meet this moment." 🌿

Sometimes, letting go of what you can't control is where your real strength begins.

✨ Save this for your birth preparation.

🌿 Birth A–Z | K is for Kindness 🌿

We talk so much about preparing your body for birth...

But what about preparing your mind with kindness? 💜

Be kind to yourself when pregnancy feels harder than you expected.

Be kind to your changing body.

Be kind to yourself if your birth doesn't go exactly to plan.

And be kind to yourself when motherhood feels messy, exhausting or overwhelming.

Birth isn't a performance.

There is no prize for being the quietest, bravest or "most natural" birthing woman in the room.

You don't have to prove anything.

And kindness matters during labour too.

A calm voice.

A reassuring hand.

Someone reminding you, "You're safe. You're doing brilliantly. I've got you."

Those little moments of kindness can make a huge difference when you're working incredibly hard.

And don't forget to give some of that kindness to yourself.

Instead of "I can't do this," try:

"This is hard, but I'm doing it."

Instead of "I'm failing," try:

"I'm allowed to need help."

And instead of expecting perfection...

Give yourself permission to simply be human.

Because birth is powerful.

Motherhood is enormous.

And you deserve kindness through all of it. 🌿

✨ Save this for a day when you need a little reminder.

🤍 Share it with a mum-to-be who deserves to hear it.

🌿 Birth A–Z | J is for Jaw 🌿

Where's your jaw right now? 👀

Clenched? Shoulders creeping towards your ears? Hands gripping your phone?

We often hold tension in our bodies without even noticing—and during labour, learning to soften that tension can be really helpful.

Think:

Soft jaw.
Soft shoulders.
Soft hands.
Soft hips.
Soft pelvic floor. 🌿

Try letting your lips part, relaxing your tongue and breathing out with a long sigh, hum or low "oooooh".

The idea isn't that your jaw is magically connected to your va**na (yes, you've probably heard that one! 😂), but that overall muscular tension and relaxation can influence how you hold your body and pelvic floor.

And low, slow sounds can encourage slower breathing and help you stay relaxed and focused through contractions.

So start practising now.

Next time you're driving, working, scrolling or waiting in a queue, check in with yourself:

"Where's my jaw?"

If it's clenched... soften it.

Because learning to release tension during pregnancy can become a really useful skill when labour arrives. 💜

🌿 Birth A–Z | I is for Instinct 🌿

That little voice inside you...

"Something doesn't feel right."
"I need to move."
"I need quiet."
"I need to rest."

That's your instinct speaking. 💜

And instinct can show up long before labour begins.

During pregnancy, you may find yourself naturally slowing down, nesting, protecting your energy or simply feeling that you need to do things differently.

Then, during labour, your instincts can become even more powerful.

You might want to sway, rock, kneel, change position, close your eyes, make sounds, be touched—or not touched at all.

You don't necessarily need someone to tell you what to do. Sometimes your body simply moves you towards what feels right.

And this is one reason your birth environment matters.

Bright lights, lots of people, constant questions, interruptions or feeling watched can make it harder to tune into those instinctive responses.

Feeling safe, private and supported can help you stay connected to yourself and your body.

And instinct doesn't disappear when your baby is born.

Motherhood brings a whole new kind of knowing. You'll learn your baby's cues, their sounds, their expressions and what feels normal for your baby.

Your instinct isn't a replacement for medical advice or professional care.

It's another piece of information.

Listen to the evidence. Listen to your care team. And don't forget to listen to yourself. 🌿

Because your instincts are often more powerful than you realise.

💜 Save this for later.

🌿 Birth A–Z | Day 8 of 26 🌿

H is for... Hormones. 💜

Did you know your body has its very own birth support team working quietly behind the scenes?

Birth isn't powered by just one hormone. It's a beautiful dance of hormones, each with an important role to play.

✨ Oxytocin — the love and connection hormone. It helps your uterus contract, supports bonding and helps create that powerful connection between you and your baby.

✨ Endorphins — your body's natural comfort system. These incredible chemicals help you cope with the intensity of labour and support you through the sensations of birth.

✨ Adrenaline — the energy hormone. While too much too early can make things harder, at the right moment it gives you that final surge of energy, focus and determination as you meet your baby.

✨ Prolactin — the nurturing hormone. It supports milk production and helps your body move into that incredible role of caring for your newborn.

These hormones don't work separately... they work as a team, each arriving when needed, supporting you through labour, birth and those first moments together.

And this is why feeling safe, calm and supported during birth matters. Your environment can help create the conditions where this amazing hormonal dance can happen.

Your body isn't just growing your baby...

It's preparing for birth too. 🌿

💜 Save this post as a reminder of how incredible your body is.
🤍 Share it with a mum-to-be who needs a little birth confidence.

🌿 Birth A–Z | Day 7 of 26 🌿

G is for... Golden Hour. 💛

The Golden Hour isn't about watching the clock... it's about protecting those precious first moments together.

If you and your baby are both well, uninterrupted skin-to-skin helps your baby regulate their temperature, breathing, heart rate and blood sugar as they adjust to life outside the womb.

Your baby already knows your voice, your heartbeat and your smell. Being held close to you is the most familiar and reassuring place they can be.

It also benefits you. Skin-to-skin releases oxytocin (the "love hormone"), which supports bonding, encourages your baby to feed when they're ready and helps your uterus contract after birth.

And here's a fact that surprises many parents: during uninterrupted skin-to-skin, your body is designed to help keep your baby warm. Your chest can adapt its temperature to meet your baby's needs—how incredible is that?

Despite the name, the Golden Hour doesn't have to end after 60 minutes. If you and your baby are happy and well, enjoy those uninterrupted cuddles for as long as you can. They really are some of the most magical moments.

💜 Save this post for your birth preparation.
🤍 Share it with a mum-to-be.
🌿 Follow along for Day 8, where H is for... Hormones.

I'd love to know... did you get to experience uninterrupted skin-to-skin after your baby's birth? 💛👇
