Blackwater Farm is set in 160 acres of beautiful undulating countryside in the valley of the river Wensum. The land is well-drained and features woodland, pits, banks and water jumps in and out of the Blackwater river, and jumps on the water meadows. *Pre 13th September ODE XC schooling closure* - We close for XC schooling from the end of Thursday 10th for event prep so please ring to book if you would like to school pre 13th September's ODE. We've had 15/16mm's rain overnight Friday for good going and the great grass green up continues.
UPCOMING TRAINING/CLINICS - Tom Crisp has a small XC clinic next Saturday 12th morning, strictly excluding horses competing on Sunday 13th to ensure no prior knowledge, Georgie Bowett is with us on Saturday 26th September for XC training, and Judith Barker is with us on Sunday 27th September for a TAP ( Thoroughbred Aftercare programme) and ordinary XC clinic. Blackwater enjoyed more rain on Friday and Saturday, and the grass continues to really green up on the course ahead of our remaining 2026 events. https://blackwaterfarm.co.uk/whats-on/ . Rain!
We’ve been incredibly lucky so far this week to have had 3 doses of rain . Todays storm was quite a deluge and the 15mm in the last 3 days is enough to give a bit of cut in the turf and take the sting out of the ground. About 48 hours and we’ll see a noticeable tinge of new green growth of grass everywhere.
We are of course open for schooling if you wish to take advantage of the cooler weather and the best going there will have been for months!
