Hartford Cycle Hub offers local bike rides on cycle paths, bridleways and quiet lanes in Cheshire.

Hartford Cycle Hub has been set up to encourage people from the Hartford area of central Cheshire to get back on to their bikes. We offer local bike rides on cycle paths, bridleways and quiet lanes, all lead by trained and experienced ride leaders. We run at least two rides per month of between 5 and 30 miles to local villages with a tea or coffee shop for a mid ride break.

Sunday 6th Sept ride to Meadow Lea. Depart Green Field 10:00am

This ride will leave Hartford via Littledales Lane and head to the A49. After crossing the A49 the route heads to a lumpy section, through Delamere and Mouldsworth, before passing Manley Mere and on towards the A56. There is a short stretch, of approximately a mile, on the A56 before a left into a housing estate and round to the café on Station Lane.
The return is mainly via the outward route but with diversions to Ashton Hayes and later staying on Hodge Lane back into Hartford.
Distance approximately 32 miles with around 360m of climbing.

Wow, what a turnout! 23 riders, including our first tandem, on today's ride to Taylor's Tearoom at the Venetian Marina. Great Tea and Cake, and it stayed dry :-)

NEXT BIKE RIDE ON SATURDAY 22 AUGUST 2026 TO VENETIAN MARINA, CHOLMONDESTON departing at 10 a.m. from The Pavilion on the Green Field in Hartford (behind the shops).

THE RIDE
Apart from the hill from Hartford to Whitegate and back, it is a mainly flat road ride to Venetian Marina, Cholmondeston near Nantwich. The route will be out through Whitegate, around Oulton Park towards Little Budworth, Wettenhall and on to the Marina. Returning on a similar route.

DISTANCE
Approximately 26 miles

REFRESHMENT BREAK
At the Venetian Marina Cafe.

SPARES AND REPAIRS
Please remember to bring a spare inner tube (suitable for your bike) and/or puncture repair outfit with you. In the event of a puncture, ride leaders can assist with repairs.

CHARGE
We ask for a £1 contribution per rider. This is to cover the Cycle Hub's annual subscription to Cycling UK which covers Public Liability for the duration of the ride.

WEATHER
In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a ride due to adverse weather conditions, we will make a post on the Hartford Cycle Hub page by 9 a.m. on the morning of the ride.

NEXT EVENING BIKE RIDE ON THURSDAY 13 AUGUST 2026 TO PEOVER leaving The Pavilion on the Green Field at 6.30 p.m. The ride will be a loop to Peover and back.

THE ROUTE
The ride will go out of Hartford through Davenham towards Lach Dennis. Then taking Common Lane it winds its way towards Smithy Green and Tree of Imagination in Lower Peover for a short break.

The return route is on more quiet lanes to Lach Dennis before retracing the outward leg.

The ride is on quiet lanes and tarmac surfaces, It is suitable for Road, Hybrid, MTB and ebikes.

PIT STOP
A short break at the Tree of Imagination in Peover. Please bring your own snacks and drink.

DISTANCE
19 miles

AWAY DAY BIKE RIDE AND TREASURE HUNT ON SUNDAY 9 AUGUST!!

MEETING POINT
The ride will start at 10 a.m. on Sunday 9th August from the Long Stay Car Park on Station Road, Neston. Aim for postcode CH64 9UJ. Station Road is off the mini-roundabout. The car park is free.

If Station Road Car Park is full, there is another free car park nearby on Chester Road, Neston. Please meet with bikes at 10am in the Long Stay Car Park.

There are no Public Toilets nearby, but there are coffee shops on Neston High Street, just a short walk away, including a Costa which opens at 8am.

THE RIDE
The route is around the South Wirral on quiet tarmac lanes and cycle paths.

It is suitable for Road, Hybrid, MTB and ebikes. Depending on the numbers we will split into smaller groups which can cater for those who wish to go faster or slower.

TREASURE HUNT
For fun, you can take part in an optional observational quiz during the ride. Just a few questions on things to look out for during the ride. Nothing hidden, answers always in a safe place, and easily remembered. Prizegiving at Nets Café.

DISTANCE
Approximately 25 miles

PIT STOP
At Nets Café approx 3 miles before the end of the ride. Nets offers a range of refreshments. It has indoor and outdoor seating and toilets are available on site.

Enjoying the Oakmere Way on this evening's part off-road ride through Norley and Delamere.

NEXT RIDE ON THURSDAY 30 JULY

This will be an Evening Ride leaving The Pavilion on the Green Feld in Hartford at 6.30 p.m. The ride will be a Norley/Delamere Loop.

THE ROUTE
From Hartford, the route is on-road up Chester Road down Littledales Lane, then crossing the A49 and heading to Norley. In Norley village, we pick up Gallowsclough Lane, then head off-road through Delamere Forest to the main road at Delamere Station.

After a short stop, we will return off-road via the Oakmere Way bridlepath to Stoneyford Lane. It is then tarmac on-road back to Hartford via Delamere Park, Hodge Lane and Beech Road.

The ride is mainly on tarmac, but with some sections of firm gravel and grassy trails in Delamere Forest and on the Oakmere Way. It is suitable for MTB, Hybrid, and Ebikes with grippy tyres.

The route is not suitable for road bikes with skinny tyres. Depending on the weather, there could be muddy puddles and surface water. Be prepared to get muddy splashes on shoes and legs. Also be aware of overgrown nettles and thorns.

DISTANCE AND SPEED
15 miles. Depending on numbers, we will split into smaller groups, and we will cater for all skill and ability levels.
