Hi I'm Sarah, in case you're new here I thought I'd introduce myself with some 'me' trivia!

I'm a wife & mum of two. I went to my first yoga class in 2000 & I've been teaching yoga since 2013.

Before yoga and children I spent many happy years as a General Manager and then CEO of Action Transport Theatre, Ellesmere Port, now Porto

Yoga replaced dance which was my first love as a teenager. Bringing me not just physical movement, but also a sense of calm & mindfulness which balances my busy life.

Yoga teacher training brought a richness of yoga history and philosophy as well as the tools to teach classes and share my passion with others.

I've always kept my teaching local, supporting my community is really important to me. Yoga is for everyone. From teaching mums and babies to the midlifers and seniors I have taught all ages and abilities over the years. The benefits for all of us are the same:

Keeping the body moving
Connecting more fully to the body
Quietening the mind from the noise of the world

I teach with integrity - sharing the roots and teachings of yoga and connecting them to our modern day lives.
I teach from the heart. I believe yoga is for everyone, and ensure what I teach is adaptable for every individual. I am a student of yoga, as I learn I pass on to my students, we journey together.

I have many qualifications including 200 hour teacher training, meditation, yoga nidra, pregnancy and postnatal. I have spent thousands of hours on my mat and have taught over 3,000 hours of classes.

As well as yoga classes I teach meditation, facilitate women's events, and weekly classes supporting people recovering from addiction at Rehab

My life changing events include the usual ones, university, marriage children.
Trips to Soweto South Africa working with SA artists to create theatre in primary schools and living in California for a couple of years .

Things I love besides yoga: creativity, home improvement programmes
reading & learning, house plants and my garden, nature and going to Scotland,
friends and family (of course!)

Ideally, we want baby to be in the best possible position for birth by the time we reach labour. This is called optimal foetal positioning or OFP. This is when baby is head down with their spine to your left hand side.

Lots of babies will naturally find their way into this position. Instinct tells them that this will allow their head to engage in the best way through the pelvis and for them to make an easier turn through the pelvis and out. OFP usually means an easier, sometimes quicker birth and with less need for intervention.

Some babies don't find their way easily into this position - they may present back to back or breach. But it's never too late! Babies can find their way into this position at the start or even during labour so it’s never too late for baby to find OFP.

But there are ways that we can help baby to find OFP throughout our pregnancy and particularly towards the end of pregnancy when baby engages their head.

In my pregnancy yoga class we practice ways to position and support our body during our day to day activities to enable our baby to find OFP more easily. Here’s some of the key techniques that you can use daily and are especially important from 3rd Trimester.

1. Keep your pelvis in a good aligned position when sitting so that the pelvis is slightly tilted forward.

2. Think about spending time with your pelvis upright and forward and open – often referred to as UFO.

3. Lying on your left side to rest and sleep.

Being in nature is one of my favourite things. I'm always pulled to a wonderful colour or a patch of sunlight highlighting a leaf or creating an interesting shadow. It's very mindful and allows me to slow down, stop and notice.

But it can be very easy, even in nature to slip back into thoughts and to do's.

In this month’s post/email I am sharing a meditation that I recorded in my local woods – there’s some beautiful birdsong in the back ground.

..And there’s a second version with no background noise that you can download and listen to whilst you find your own place to sit – maybe your garden, a park or another outside space, or even just looking through your window onto your garden, then you can enjoy it with your own local soundscape.

There’s also some reflections for you to find the detail in the nature around you. – so grab a cuppa and click the link .

If you enjoy it you can click subscribe at the end to get my next monthly email straight to your inbox

💚 Gentle yoga with relaxation at Cuddington and Sandiway Villlage Hall

Have you thought about trying yoga? Are you retired? Do you work from home? Recovering from injury? Have less mobility for faster paced exercise? Want to reduce stress? Looking to age healthily? Need to relax more? Never done yoga before? Done yoga a while ago? Would like a gentle class to rebalance your body and your mind?

A great way to restore some balance and well-being in the middle of your week!

You’ll learn short meditation, relaxation and breath work practices as well. A longer relaxation ends the class so that you are ready for the rest of your day.

"The class makes me take time out for myself and helps me to gently use muscles I do not normally use it also helps with my past wrist and arm injury." Anne

All movement and yoga poses are simple and accessible with adaptations to suit everyone in the room so that you can work safely but in the way that suits you.
You'll enjoy a steady pace, exploring variations and having fun with it. You do need to be able to get up and down from the floor, but this is done slowly and occasionally through class.

"I like the fact that classes are for all ages and genders. The other class members are friendly and everyone is welcome. Plus the class keeps me challenging myself to keep mobile as l age." - Paula
