Failure doesn’t mean you’re not strong enough.
Sometimes it just means not yet.
Today Lucy took on the 40kg sandbag, trying to get it up and over her shoulder.
She tried.
She failed.
She reset.
And she tried again.
Still no rep.
But that’s exactly where progress happens.
It’s easy to feel strong when you’re doing something you already know you can do. The real test is what happens when you meet something that stops you.
Do you back away from it?
Or do you keep coming back?
Every failed attempt teaches you something.
Every struggle builds resilience.
Every time you refuse to quit, you become a little harder to beat.
Lucy tossed the 40kg bag over her shoulder today 8 times. In amongst those 8 successes were 10 failed attempts.
Keep failing. Keep learning. Keep showing up.
Because eventually, “I can’t do it” becomes “I just did it.” 💪

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that the biggest change doesn’t happen when someone gets fitter.
It happens when training stops feeling like something they’re trying to do and starts feeling like something they simply do.
There’s a big difference.
At first, people are looking for motivation.
They’re trying to find the time.
They’re negotiating with themselves.
“Will I train today?”
“Can I fit it in?”
“Maybe tomorrow.”
Then, if committed, slowly, something changes.
Training becomes part of the week.
Like work.
Like appointments.
Like brushing your teeth.
It’s no longer a decision every single time.
That’s usually when people start making the kind of progress that lasts.
Not because they suddenly became more motivated but because looking after themselves became part of who they are.
That’s the shift I’m always trying to help people make.
From someone who is trying to exercise, to someone who workouts out almost every day.
If September feels like the right time to make that change, send us a message.

One thing I’ve noticed with busy people is how easy it is for their own health to become the thing that keeps getting moved.
Work deadline?
Training moves.
Family needs something?
Training moves.
Busy week?
Training moves.
None of those decisions feel unreasonable at the time and that’s the problem.
Putting yourself last rarely feels dramatic.
It happens quietly.
One cancelled session.
One busy week.
One month where everything else feels more important.
Then eventually people look up and realise they haven’t felt properly fit, strong or energetic for years.
I don’t think looking after your health is selfish.
I think it’s one of the things that allows you to keep doing everything else well.
Work.
Family.
Responsibility.
Leadership.
All of it is easier when you have energy, strength and some capacity left in the tank.
That’s why I’ve always believed training needs to have a proper place in your week.
Not when everything else is finished because everything else is never finished.
A place.
A time.
A plan.
Then you protect it.
That’s when things start to change. 👊🏼

September always feels like a bit of a reset.
Holidays are finishing.
Routines are returning.
Work settles back into its usual rhythm.
And a lot of people start saying the same thing…
“I need to get back into training.”
The thing I’ve learned over the years is that thinking about getting back into it can last for weeks.
There’s rarely a perfect Monday.
There’s rarely a completely clear diary.
At some point, you simply have to put the first session in.
You don’t need to be fit before you start.
You don’t need to train five times a week.
And you certainly don’t need to punish yourself for what happened over the summer.
You just need a sensible plan and somewhere to begin.
September is a very good time to begin.
If you’ve spent the last few weeks thinking, “I really need to get myself back into a routine,” send me a message.
Let’s have a conversation and see if our coaching is right for you.

Weekends done right ❤️
Work hard. Smile harder. And always make time for coffee ☕️
Saturday was about putting the work in — training hard, pushing each other and getting it done. Followed by plenty of smiles with a pretty great bunch of people.
Sunday? We did it all again. Another hard session, plenty of effort… and then the important bit — coffee, good conversation and time together ☕️
Because this has always been about more than just training.
It’s about working hard alongside good people. Sharing the tough sessions, the laughs, the wins and everything in between.
Hard work. Happy people. Good times.
That’s a pretty good weekend. ❤️

The last week of August always feels a little different.
Summer isn’t quite over.
But you can feel normal routines starting to return.
People are coming back from holidays.
Diaries are beginning to settle.
September is starting to appear on the horizon.
I’ve always liked this week because it doesn’t need to be all or nothing.
You don’t have to suddenly overhaul everything.
You don’t need a perfect plan.
You can just start putting a few good habits back in place.
One session.
A better breakfast.
An earlier night.
A little more structure.
Nothing dramatic.
Just enough to remind yourself what feeling good feels like.
Then when September arrives, you’re not starting from scratch.
You’re already moving.
Consistency doesn’t require perfection.

Today’s session was like eating fillet steak…
Expensive.
Not very big.
But absolutely delicious — and it definitely hit the spot. 🥩
A lot of “fitness” is sold on the idea that more must be better.
More sweat.
More reps.
More calories.
More suffering.
More time getting absolutely battered.
The thinking is: “I’ve paid for an hour, so I need an hour’s worth of punishment.”
And yes… we can do that too but today was different.
Today’s BikeErg session came down to just 4 very special minutes of work.
Everything else was preparation or recovery.
You could say the rest of the session was the bread, salad and vegetables.
Important. Necessary. Part of the meal.
But those 4 minutes were the fillet steak. 🥩
Four minutes where the quality of the work mattered far more than the quantity.
Four minutes of working at the right intensity, with the right purpose, to produce the adaptation we actually wanted.
And those four minutes were enough to move us forward another level in power, speed and performance.
A great training session isn’t measured by how long you suffered.
It’s measured by what the work actually achieved.
Quality over quantity. Every time.

Sometimes maintaining what you’ve already built is enough.
I’ve seen people put themselves under unnecessary pressure because they think every workout has to be better than the last one.
More weight.
More sessions.
More effort.
More progress.
That’s not how real life works because there are weeks when work is busy.
Weeks when you’re away.
Weeks when you’re tired.
Weeks when there simply isn’t much spare time.
On those weeks, working out twice instead of three times isn’t failure.
Maintaining your strength isn’t standing still.
Keeping the habit going isn’t “not doing enough.”
Sometimes the win is simply staying connected to what you’ve already built.
Then, when life gives you a little more room, you move forward again.
Fitness doesn’t always have to be about pushing.
Sometimes it’s about holding your ground.
Consistency doesn’t require perfection.

This is what we think fitness should look like.
Not endless punishment.
Not chasing numbers for the sake of numbers.
And definitely not feeling like exercise is another chore you have to squeeze into your life.
Move your body. Lift things. Carry things. Hang, crawl, throw, run and walk.
Do it alongside good people. Have a laugh. Get outside when you can.
Challenge yourself enough to become fitter, stronger and more capable — but enjoy the process while you’re doing it.
For most of us, training isn’t the end goal.
The goal is to feel good, stay healthy, be capable and have a body that lets us get more out of life.
If you can start your day moving, laughing and walking in the sunshine with a good bunch of people then that seems like a pretty decent way to go about it.
If this sounds like your kind of fitness, send me a DM and come and join us for a session.
