Happy Bank Holiday Movers βΊοΈ
Guess what I am doing on my bank holiday?
As an instructor I don't just come along and deliver a class, my brain and body gets a good workout in-between classes π₯΅
Here is a sneak preview of what's to come this week.
As with all routines we can adapt the moves to suit you.
For a seated version we would slowly lift the leg out to the side. Kick out would be a gentle lift from knee.
Standing Kick outs could be changed to foot taps to the front.
We make it work to exercise at your pace and range.
We want to make it a fun way to work on our cardio, strength, coordination and balance.
Move it or Lose it with Sharon - Northampton

This week I am taking annual leave from my Move it or Lose it classes.
I miss my class members when I take a break, the classes are definitely my happy hormones release π
As I cannot ask you what muscles we are working this week I thought why not share another FB post where I stop and think what muscles will I work extra hard today.
Yesterday was a lovely walk around Rutland Water, not the full 23 miles but we did manage 5 miles in the heat π₯΅ followed by a quick paddle to soothe the feet at the man made beach.
Walking in sand β±οΈ work's calves, quadriceps, glutes and core. As sand shifts it forces your body to work extra stabilizer muscles in your feet, ankles and core. Working muscles an additional 30-50% more π
Today was 5k steps around MK, my legs were definitely feeling sore from yesterday's walk.
If you are out walking this week, take a moment and really feel the benefits you get βΊοΈπ¦΅π£ β€οΈ

In a Move it or Lose it class how many times do I say imagine you are cleaning the windows?
But have you really thought about how cleaning windows engages muscles from head to toe?
The key muscle groups involved include your shoulders (rotator cuff) for scrubbing
Arms and forearms for grip πͺ
Core and obliques for twisting and balance π¦΅
Calves and legs for reaching up on your tiptoes π¦Ά
Glutes & Quadriceps to help you maintain balance and stability, especially if you are shifting your weight from one leg to the other.
I feel great knowing I have had a full body workout today using many muscles. It has made one of those tasks we don't really enjoy, worth it. I even felt a good release of happy dopamine π
If you want to feel fitter, strong muscles and improve balance to keep doing everyday activities, tasks, even the ones we don't really enjoy come along to a Move it or Lose it class.

What if the secret to stronger bones as we age isnβt what most people think?
We often hear that walking is good for us β and it absolutely is.
But when it comes to supporting bone health, new research suggests there may be something else we need to pay attention to as we get older.
In our latest Turn Back the Clock: The Age-Defying Edit blog, we explore what really helps keep bones stronger for longer β and why the Move it or Lose it approach fits so well with the evidence.

That's a wrap for this week's class.
Thank you to everyone who made it to class. Thankfully we had the luxury of AC in most venues but getting to and from class was a great effort with the high temperature.π π₯΅
Missed Monday's classes so looking forward to delivering new routines with you on Monday 1st June, gosh June already π
Have a wonderful week/weekend all. Stay cool and hydrated.
