Somewhere along the way, a lot of adults become really good at putting themselves last.
Work comes first.
The kids come first.
The house comes first.
Everyone else comes first.
And eventually…
You realise you’ve spent so much time looking after everyone else that you’ve forgotten to look after yourself.
But just remember this…
Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish.
It’s not selfish to train.
It’s not selfish to take an hour for yourself.
It’s not selfish to want to feel fit, strong and confident again.
Because when you feel better…
You have more energy.
More patience.
More confidence.
More to give.
And your kids don’t just learn from what you tell them.
They learn from what they see you do.
So maybe it’s time to put yourself back on the list.
Not at the bottom.
Somewhere near the top 🌪️

‼️Your going to want to read this…
WE’RE BACK TOMORROW 🥊
And after a few weeks away, some big changes in the gyms and plenty of work behind the scenes, we’re ready to get back on the mats.
But there’s something else we need to share…
When Tempest first opened, a student walked through the doors who would go on to become a pretty important part of our story.
Paige.
She quickly became my first assistant, then a coach and eventually one of the most important members of the Tempest team.
For years, she’s helped coach and look after thousands of our students.
And looking after people is probably what she’s always been best at.
Caring about people!
Which is why, although we’re going to be very sad to see her leave, we’re also excited for what comes next.
Paige is starting a new career supporting adults with additional needs… and we genuinely couldn’t think of a better person for it.
Sometimes one chapter has to end for another to begin.
And this is Paige’s time for a new chapter.
She’ll be around Tempest all week!
Blyth on Tuesday… North Shields for the rest of the week
So if you get the chance, get yourself along, say goodbye and show her some love!
And please leave your positive comments below… let’s give her the send-off she deserves!
Thank you for everything Paige ❤️
You’ll always be part of the Tempest family 🌪️

BACK TO SCHOOL!
BACK WITH CONFIDENCE 🥊🎒
A new school year brings new challenges.
New classes. New faces. New situations.
And if we can help our kids walk through those school gates feeling a little stronger, a little braver and thinking “I’ve got this”…
Then we’re doing our job.
Because the confidence they build on the mats doesn’t stay on the mats.
They’ll build fitness, discipline, resilience and have a team around them who’ve got their back.
One week tomorrow & we’re back.
September bookings are LIVE.

🥊 Or just Google Tempest Martial Arts… you’ll find us in seconds 👌
Let’s get them back through those school gates feeling like they can take on the world 💪

🌪️ THAT’S A WRAP… BUT SEPTEMBER IS GOING TO BE BIG!
Today is our FINAL DAY OF CLASSES before we hit pause for summer break ☀️🥊
And honestly…
What a belta year so far!
And we have big plans to finish 2026 STRONG.
While we’re closed… the work behind the scenes doesn’t stop.
We’re investing.
🔥 Brand-new heating system for winter
❄️ Full air conditioning for summer
🥊 Improvements across the academy
👀 And a LOT more happening behind the scenes…
September is going to bring some really exciting changes to Tempest.
Some you’ll see straight away.
Some we’re keeping under wraps for now 😉
But one thing is certain…
The next chapter is going to be our biggest yet.
We’re constantly looking at how we can make Tempest better… better coaching, better experiences, better facilities and more opportunities for our members.
Because standing still isn’t really our thing!
We’ll be closed from Monday 17th August and back on the mats Tuesday 1st September.
And remember… any missed classes are banked onto your account, so you won’t lose them.
For now, enjoy the summer ☀️
Recharge.
Have fun.
Then get ready…
Because when we open those doors in September…
We’re coming back ready to take things to the next level 🌪️

5 reasons we LOVE skipping at Tempest 🥊
It’s not just great way to get fit… it’s simply one of those simple tools that gives you so much back!
1, It keeps you relaxed under pressure.
The more tired you get, the more you have to control your breathing, stay relaxed and keep your rhythm.
2, It builds your engine.
Your heart, lungs and legs are working constantly, without needing to smash yourself into the floor before the session starts.
3. It’s active recovery.
You can go hard then ease off, all while keeping moving… regulate your breathing and gradually bring your heart rate back down! All while still working.
4. Obviously helps footwork.
Rhythm. Timing. Balance. Weight transfer. Staying light on your feet.
All of it carries over to your kickboxing.
5. It builds your mindset.
There’s something about finding a rhythm and staying with it when you’re tired.
No complicated equipment.
Just a rope, some space and the willingness to keep going.
Sometimes the simplest tools are the best ones 🥊

MEET THE NEWEST MEMBERS OF TEAM TEMPEST 👊
We’re excited to officially welcome Amy & Leon to the Tempest team, starting in September!
Both have come through our Tempest Leadership Program, put in the hours on the mat, assisted with classes and consistently shown us they’ve got what it takes.
Now they get the opportunity to take that next step.
And honestly… they’re only just getting started 👊🔥
Amy is currently studying for a Master’s in Child Psychology and has experience working in Early Years, giving her a fantastic understanding of working with and supporting young children. We 100% know she’s going to be a brilliant addition to our kids’ programme.
Leon is currently studying part-time at college on a Uniformed Services course, alongside his training at Tempest. The discipline, responsibility and professionalism that comes with that are already shining through and mixed with his strong family ties to the fitness industry, he’s got a great foundation to build on.
Both are still young… and that’s what makes this so exciting.
They’ve put in the work.
They’ve stepped up.
They’ve earned the opportunity.
As Tempest continues to grow, Amy and Leon will be helping with our younger students, supporting classes and taking on more responsibility within the academies.
Give good people responsibility.
Give them a chance to prove themselves.
Then get out of their way.
These two are going to be very hard to stop!
Welcome to Team Tempest, Amy & Leon.
P.S.
And because they clearly know how to have a laugh…
When we asked for their headshots, they decided to send us this one first 😂
The proper ones did eventually arrive…😅

WHY DON’T WE JUST TELL OUR STUDENTS TO BUY THEIR OWN GLOVES? 🥊
Because we care about what they’re training in.
We could tell parents to nip into Sports Direct and grab a pair of cheap Lonsdale or Everlast gloves.
But we don’t want our kids training in the cheapest gloves they can find.
So we made our own.
🥊 High quality gloves designed specifically for our junior students.
💰 Fairly priced (£25) because quality shouldn’t mean ridiculous prices.
🎨 Loads of colours… because kids actually want to wear them.
⚡ Built for years of training! Not something that falls apart after a few sessions.
And most importantly…
Every Tempest child gets the same standard.
No £10 bargain-bin gloves.
No paying £80+ just for a fancy logo.
Just really good gloves at a really fair price.
Because if we’re going to teach kids to train hard, look after themselves and take pride in what they do…
We should give them equipment worth taking pride in. 🥊⚡
