🥎🌊2026 Softball Season for Newtownabbey Neptunes is done!!! 🔱

Today the Tunes played their final game of the season, welcoming the Mighty Wolfhounds to the BRAP.

The stage was set. Newtownabbey's final league position all came down to this match. A defeat would have them remain in a very respectable 4th place, however a win would leapfrog them into 2nd place behind the Hawks.

Both teams played an amazing game with the Hounds bringing their usual big bats which cleared the outfielders numerous times, but the Tunes OF gathered these quickly, getting them back to the diamond ASAP. A big shout out to Wolfhound Trish for an outstanding Home Run.

The Tunes played an amazing game, steady batting and controlled and speedy defensive plays. Every single player bringing their A game. Gaz on 3rd played a great attacking and defensive game winning the Top Trident for this game.

The outcome was a 14-9 win to the Neptunes who finished their second season in 2nd place.

Captains Alex and Baz are so proud of this team's efforts this year, playing some fantastic softball and finishing out in absolute style with 3-win streak to complete the season.

Now time for pre-season training to begin. Let's go 2027!!!

The🌊Neptunes host the Wolfhounds in their final league game this year. This will be an intense encounter as final league positions for both teams will depend on the outcome of this game.

🥎🌊🔱NEPTUNES RESULT🔱🌊🥎

The penultimate game for the Neptunes in their league fixtures was an amazing game. Both teams gave a master class in defensive plays from the beginning. Tags, slides, catches galore, tight infield speedy outfield, it was a blinder throughout.

Shout out to Angels Kalvin for pitching a great game and Mark for a diving shortstop catch right 'aff the TV'.

Amazing performances all round from the Neptunes, infield was strong with Ciara, Lauren, Baz, Gareth, David and Joe keeping the runners at bay, Alex pitched a great game with several strike outs and assists.
Tina, Seana, Jenn and Paul made some great outfield plays and catches and Matthew with his usual sprinting catches as well as the final nervous catch of the game to finish things up and have the ump call Ballgame.

An amazing game for Tina in LF making sure nothing got past her and making some excellent hits to the outfield. This earned her the Top Trident Award. Cracking performance!

Thanks to the Umps for today and to the Angels for travelling over. Cheers Kalvin for the traybakes. They were amazing.

The🌊Neptunes host the Angels in their penultimate league game this year. The Newtownabbey side took the first game by 5 runs but the Angels league form has improved since then. Who will come out on top this time? Come along to find out.

🥎🔥 MATCH DAY RESULT 🔥🥎

Phoenix welcomed the Aces to an overcast Roughfort for the Newtownabbey side's last league game of the year. After witnessing Neptunes win over the Barracudas at 1pm on the home field - Phoenix were fired up for 3pm kick off.

It looked like Phoenix were off to an epic start as first to bat Robert, walloped in a mighty home run! Despite Robert beginning the game like a bat out of hell the Aces decided to turn up the volume, clearly determined to reverse the result of the last meeting!

The Aces defence was impressive on Sunday, with some great catches and a well executed double play. Pitcher Brendan kept the batters guessing and accurate catches in the outfield unfortunately meant the usual power hitters of Phoenix were on the back foot.

Phoenix managed to add to the score board again in the 4th inning including a big boost from shortstop James, with a 2 RBI home run!👏

Despite the home team being put through its paces, in true Phoenix style no one gave up and the team kept battling right through to the final out - exactly the attitude you’d expect from the home team 🔥

The Aces had one of those days where pretty much everything seemed to fall their way. Big hits, aggressive running and impressive communication kept the pressure on Phoenix. Eventually the Aces lead became too much to overcome and the game finished in the 5th with a 22-4 win to the Belfast side.

Credit where it’s due, the Aces played some excellent softball on Sunday and earned their win.

Even though it wasn’t the way Phoenix wanted to end their season, there are still so many amazing achievements secured by the NSC powerhouse this year. It is the first time in a very long time that a promoted team has managed to stay in the top division for longer than one season. The team was only formed in October 2022 and officially joined Softball Ulster for the 2023 season. Since their inception Phoenix have come up through the ranks, including a clean sweep in div B last season. Phoenix had one goal this season and that was to win at least one division A match. They have absolutely smashed their goal and some, by winning 4 games, securing another season in division A- Congratulations team! 🔥🎉🧡🖤

Phoenix end this season reflecting on their achievements, nursing their battered and bruised bodies and look forward to playing in the NSC combo team at the EOS blitz. To everyone who's supported the team this year, the game umpires (volunteers we see you!), the Softball Ulster committee (up the volunteers! woop woop!) and to our fellow SU clubs and teams - Thank You - We have had an absolute BLAST!! 🥳❤️‍🔥

🌊🥎🔱 MATCH DAY RESULT 🔱🥎🌊

The Neptunes played their first of a triple home game run to finish the season.

There was a full home team roster to face a short-handed North Down team that are at the top of their game, sitting in 2nd place in the league. They played some great plays and brought their strong batting game, especially 3rd Basewoman Allie whipping out some serious OF hits.

The Newtownabbey side played a blinder in both attack and defence with great batting, cheeky running and some outstanding infield plays and outfield catches.

The infield played tight and strong holding runners on base, with Joe and Carl tagging-out those that strayed too far from the pack.

Outfielder Matthew in LC made several high speed OF catches that only he could make, with Tina guarding the left field brilliantly, not letting anything past.

Ciara on 1B made some excellent outs and great throws to keep the infield under control as well as some superb bats to get on base and bring several runners home, earning her the Top Trident Award.

An amazing win to start off the final approach to the end of the season for the Neptunes.

🔱🥎 🔥DOUBLE HEADER - GAME DAY ALERT! 🔥🥎 🔱

Newtownabbey Softball hosts a double-header this weekend with both the Phoenix and Neptunes having home games.

First up the 🌊Neptunes host the Barracudas in the reverse fixture this year as both teams qualified for Group A in Div B. The first game was a close affair with the Cudas taking it by 1 run in horrendous weather conditions but who will come out on top this time?

Following that, the 🔥Phoenix welcome BSC Aces for their final Div A league game in what has been a remarkable year as a newly promoted team. With their place in the top tier secure the Phoenix are aiming to finish as high they can with as many wins as possible.

Before this, NSC are sending a contingent to Dublin for this year’s Kegfest on Saturday, and we wish them the best of luck. 🥎

🔥🥎 GAME DAY ALERT! 🥎🔥

NSC gets back to SU League action this weekend after travelling to Limerick for the 2026 IOST. The Phoenix go to Ward Park on Sunday to take on the Buccaneers in the away fixture for this season. It will be a great game so come down to Bangor to watch some fantastic softball.
