The fascination this evening was with colour coordinated socks. We were all looking very dapper. Even my socks matched my shirt, a considered choice, honest.
Anyway, we also ran. Fast and hard running. 4 sets of 5k pace, 4 sets of 10k pace finished off with 4 sets of good old power running. Each interval lasted 60seconds.
It was super to welcome Kate and Rachel along tonight and hope to see you both at the Stranraer track next week (6:45 start).
Prize for anyone who can match the socks to the owner.

Tuesday Night, Merrick Centre, 1830
ALL WELCOME!!
I think we can push one more out-of-town session along Machermore, so:
60s!
Overview
The name of this run says it all! This quick and fun speed run calls for 12 intervals. Each will be 60 seconds in length. You'll roll four 60 second intervals at your 5K effort. Then you'll run four more intervals at your 10k effort for 60 seconds.
And then you'll close out this workout with four 60 seconds intervals at your Mile Pace.
Recovery will be 60 seconds long after each interval except for your last 5K and 10K
intervals. You will get two minutes recovery after those. This is a fab speed run to work on your efforts and pacing. Believe me... it's a gas!

Leaving it late in the season but I managed my first race of the year at the Dalbeattie Hardrock Duathlon today.
I completed the 4.1 mile run in 30:50 mins and cylce partner Paul came in on the bike in a stonking 47:49 giving us an overall 1:18:39, some 5 minutes off the winners of the short route.
Good to see friends of the Harriers Nicole Bygrave and Bygrave who both excelled in the solo event.

Soggy but fun. We ran for 20 minutes of solid effort, took a 3 minute recovery and returned strongly in 17 minutes…well, turned out 18 minutes was more realistic. You live and learn.

TUESDAY NIGHT. ALL WELCOME TO JOIN US AT THE MERRICK CENTRE.
1830.
Tonight we will jog down to the Riverside Carpark, do a bit of stretching and then we will run out following the Cree towards Nether Barr for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes we will take a 2 minute recovery before turning back and running for 17 minutes. Obviously the challenge is to run stronger on the way home to reach the origin point in less time than the outbound journey took.
