Today was an exceptionally tough game, and the scoreline certainly doesn’t tell the whole story.

The heat, the physicality of the game, conceding a very early goal, missing players, players playing through illness voluntarily , and facing a very strong division 1 side in Torquay all contributed to a difficult afternoon, ending in a 9-0 defeat.

But that’s football! ⚽❤️ 🔥

At Newton Fire we are all about the development of the team and individuals and games like today can be some of the best learning opportunities a player can have.

Today is about learning, regrouping and coming back stronger. 💪🔥

🏆 Player of the Match – Isabella

A huge well done to Isabella, who was outstanding today. She personally marked Torquays strongest player throughout the game and showed fantastic discipline, determination and defensive awareness.

A thoroughly deserved Player of the Match award! 👏

💪 A big well done to Eva
Eva played on despite feeling really unwell before and during the game. Her commitment and determination to support her teammates were fantastic. ❤️

🔥 And Freya

A massive well done to Freya for getting back onto the pitch after taking a knock to the face. That showed real courage and character.

A massive thank you to Rachel for running the line today, with parents valuable support like this it makes our coaching teams lives a lot easier!!

Today wasn't our day on the scoreboard, but it was another experience for the girls to learn from.

A fantastic training session tonight, with a real focus on the development areas identified from yesterday’s game — including set plays, ball transition and dribbling.

The girls were excellent throughout, showing great attitude, intensity and commitment. They brought 100% realism and focus to every drill, which made for a really productive session. 💪⚽️

Islay was outstanding tonight, showing a fantastic presence, excellent technique and brilliant positive energy throughout the session. A thoroughly deserved award! 👏🌟

Wow, what a competitive game! 🙌🔥⚽️

The girls absolutely deserved a draw after all the hard work, commitment and effort they put in today! 💪👏

3-0 didn’t represent how competitive the game was. ⚽️💥

Before the match, the aim was to win the first ball, win the second ball and really take the game to the opposition. 💪⚽️

As a team, the girls delivered exactly what was asked of them and matched the opponents’ physical approach throughout. 👊🔥

Considering this was officially our first game together with everyone available, the performance was superb! 👏🙌⚽️

We were still managing a few injuries going into the game 🤕, which affected some players, and unfortunately a few incidents during the match resulted in further injuries. Despite that, the girls showed fantastic resilience, determination and togetherness. 🔥💪

🏆A special mention to Amelia, who really stepped up at centre-back today. She put in an excellent performance and helped limit the home team’s opportunities in front of goal. 👏⚽️🔥

We’ll take those lessons away, work on them 💪 and continue to develop as a team. 🔥⚽️

Overall, a brilliant team performance and a huge amount of credit to every single player. ❤️👏

The progress is clear… 📈🔥 and there’s plenty more to come! 💪⚽️❤️‍🔥
