Rathfriland Football Club

The Whites recovered from an early deficit and a plucky first half performance from the visitors to finish the game strongly and progress to the next round.

Although we knocked on the door a few times in the second half, Moneyslane FC clung on to the lead until the 74th minute when Adam Neale connected well with a ball to the back post to fire in the equaliser. A Reece Doyle free kick gave us the lead and two further goals from Stephen McCavitt, on his first appearance of the season after an injury lay off, completed the scoreline in what was a typically hard fought encounter.

A positive beyond the result was Ciaran Dobbin making his first appearance of the season after injury, making a big contribution after coming on as a second half substitute.

Next up: Institute FC in the NIFL BoyleSports Championship on Saturday 5th September at Iveagh Park (3pm KO).
