Our small but mighty team got Day 1 off to a great start at the SLSGB Open National Surf Lifesaving Championships 🌊🔥

Big waves, strong swell and some epic racing in the Double Ski and Oceanman events. A brilliant effort from everyone, with Jack battling through to secure a place in the finals later this weekend!

Plenty more to come, and we’re looking forward to seeing the rest of the weekend’s racing unfold. See you in the morning ❤️💛💙

Nationals Competitor’s - Not only do we have a banging breakfast menu we are delighted to share our lunch menu…

First up we have our delicious Pulled Pork and Apple Sauce bap, kindly donated by ‘The Pig’ at Harlyn. Chef Chris and the team have been slaving away over this gorgeous lunch option.

Next up we have our veggie option, Chef Nicks Dhal.... Roasted sweet potato, tomato and coconut Dhal with trimmings

We also have delicious burgers, again kindly donated by Brian Etherington Meats. Brian Etherington Meat Company is proud to have been supplying Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly with high quality meat since 1954.

For those looking for lighter options we also have fresh fruit donated by Newquay Morrisons and a wide variety of biscuits, snacks and cakes on offer.

Fistral beach complex will all be open serving up lots of other options.

We will be running our breakfast menu from 8.15am. On the menu we have bacon baps, kindly donated by Brian Etherington Meats. We also have Eggs kindly donated by St. Ewe Free Range Eggs | B Corp an award winning free range eggs all from family farms!

We also have chef Nicks’ infamous breakfast bowl, with yoghurt, granola, BBQ banana and berry compote!

After a great season of training and competition, topped off by some fantastic performances from our Youth team at Nationals last week, we headed over to the other side of the headland for something a little different.

This one was less about racing and more about fun, teamwork and putting some real-life lifesaving skills into practice.

Our coaching team worked with the group on casualty management in both calm water and more testing swell conditions around the rocks, giving them experience in environments they wouldn’t normally encounter during regular beach training. Because lifesaving skills aren’t just for competition, you never know when you might need to put them into action beyond the beach.

We also explored some of Newquay’s old tea caverns and historic smuggling routes, including heading into one of the caves for a bit of adventure along the way.

It’s been a brilliant year for this group, and this was a great way to finish it, learning new skills, having some fun and building that team cohesion between our Youth and coaching team even further.
