📣 HEAD COACH REPORT 📣
Four Newquay Cormorants swimmers have recently been in Sheffield competing in the British and English National Championships.
These competitions are by invitation only based on the British rankings of the fastest swimmers in the country. During the first week Timmy Jones (100&200 metres freestyle) and Will Davies (50,100&200 metres backstroke) were competing in the British Championships. Both swimmers had very compromised build ups, Timmy due to his A levels and Will with illness, exams and a full SLS programme. Despite this Timmy swam well hitting season best performances, Will was unsurprisingly not at his usual high level but displayed admirable resilience to get in and give it everything.
During the intervening weekend Zeek Streeter competed in the National Open Water Championships held over 5 km at the Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield. Zeek had a fantastic swim finishing 11th in his age group with a time of 1 hour 15 minutes.
It was then back to the pool at Ponds Forge for the English Championships where Zeek (1500 freestyle) was joined by Robyn Fitzhenry (50&100 backstroke). Zeek had a decent swim in the 1500 and was just outside his personal best. Robyn was performing at season best level to qualify for the final in both events finishing 8th in the 100 and 9th in the 50. A massive well done to all.
