🛠️ HOW TO: Dust Wiper Service 🛠️
Keeping on top of your dust wiper maintenance can seriously improve your fork performance between full services.
This simple procedure should be carried out every 30 - 50 hours of riding, and can be done with the forks still on the bike👌
🛠️ Flip the bike upside down and remove the rebound k**b cover (where present).
🛠️ Use a 2mm hex wrench to unthread the set screw in the red rebound k**b, remove the k**b and set it aside.
🛠️ Use a 10mm socket to unthread and remove the air side bottom nut.
🛠️ Depending on fork model, use a 10mm or 15mm socket to remove the damper side bottom nut.
🛠️ Use Damper Removal Tools to dislodge the shafts from the lowers. Make sure that you have approximately half of the available threads engaged with your tool before striking with your mallet.
🛠️ Remove the damper removal tools, then pull the lowers off of the upper tubes and set them aside.
🛠️ Clean the dust wipers then carefully remove the foam rings and clean with a rag and some isopropyl alcohol.
🛠️ Soak the foam rings in a small cup of FOX 20wt. Gold bath oil for a few minutes then replace inside the dust wipers.
🛠️ Clean any excess grease and oil from the dust wipers and fork lowers.
🛠️ Reassemble the forks making sure to use correct torque settings for your model of fork.
