This morning is the First official Sunday of the grassroots season for Island teams.
Some children will be playing for the very first time in 3v3.
Some may have never played for a team before, others have joined a new team and are making new friends.
While for so many it’s back to routine and they can’t wait.
Our u12s have all just started High school and it’s been a huge emotional change for them so today it’s back to their safe place with mates..
There are players playing u16s and starting their final year of grassroots wondering where their next step is going to be.
There are new parent managers and parent referees who are also nervous and anxious about their games and responsibilities.
A huge well done to you for putting yourselves out there.
Whatever team or club you are, which ever child your their to support, I Sincerely wish you all have a fun and peaceful game that every positive can be applauded.
From great saves. Last ditch tackles, amazing passes or assists, top bins or penalties, every child just goes out to do their best.
The last two seasons on this opening day it has absolutely pi**ed down with rain ☔️
Or we’ve had lightning.
Today is a good day. Embrace it and have fun.
Remember parents, no posting scores online for non competitive games u7-u11 (it’s a no no) if your going to post something, make it positive, balanced, respect the opposition.
If your able to do so, Offer to help your team managers set up/take down goals, respect barriers and more, as it really does make a huge difference to those who’ve given up their time for your child.
All the best 🫶⚽️

For The third year now I’m delighted to say we will be back in delivering in 5 Primary Schools for the Jason Robinson Foundation.
It’s amazing to secure funding yet again from a local source to do this and provide these opportunities to children.
Our Annual tournament will be held in May after SATS week where we hope to have Jason himself back in attendance.
While we’re also hoping to host “A night with” Jason in the evening for so many to attend.
Thanks to Vectis Rugby Club coaches for supporting this once again.

I received this text tonight from a parent of a child who attends our holiday sessions looking for extra.
I absolutely love this mentality … take me back to the 90s 🙌

How much does your child actually practice at home with a ball ?
Do they go out in the garden and practice their same strong turns with their weaker foot ?
I still see so many players who can only turn one way … same trick …
Can they do it on their weaker side ?
So many players now don’t have the resilience to go back to basics and improve their weaker foot.
Imagine if they did, every day, 10/15/20 min working on their weaker foot.
Passing/drop volleys, control and release ..
Weight changes of pass/shot
Honestly … they would be twice the player they are now …
If your player can do that … they will not only strengthen themselves. .. but make them more adaptable in a team while also strengthening the team too.
Now imagine 2/3/4 players did the same and worked hard on their weaker foot …
Your teams trajectory will grow quicker.
