Yesterday the Team competed at the Isle of Wight Car Club Weaver Brothers Ltd island stages 2026, The Day started of cold and wet and this didn’t let off with it progressively getting worse and worse as the day went on.

Stage1 was difficult with finding a fine line between putting in a competitive time or ending up in the ditches of the tight and narrow roads through Havenstreet, Dean set a time of 3:28 with Wayne just 2 seconds behind both getting a clean stage in but Andy and Kev both got held up due to a car crashing and blocking the end of the stage due to this they were both given a nominal time of 3:58.

Stage 2 Dean and Robbie were having intercom issues Dean told Robbie “you’re going to have to shout!”(not what you need when travelling at speed in a rally stage) but they didn’t let it stop them knocking 9 seconds off not bad when you can’t hear clearly where your going! Kev wasn’t holding back either, so much so getting the mini fully airborne over the railway bridge he dislodged his distributor cap causing a missfire through the rest of the stage.

Stage 5 by this point the rain was really pouring down making it really difficult conditions probably some of the worst the team have come across with standing water in several places across the stage Dean did not let this stop him with him setting joint 3rd fastest time of 3:26 just 6 seconds of the fastest time from that stage set by Will Nicholls and Nick Broom. Wayne and Chris had a very close near miss with a bridge due to excessive standing water (and Wayne’s lead right foot) causing the es**rt to aqua plain towards a very solid bridge wall, to say we nearly S #*t ourselves is an understatement luckily the car straighten up just in time to cross the bridge (it reminded us of a true legend Ari Vatanens near miss the at 1983 Manx International) here is a link if you haven’t see it there is a link in the comments. Andy and Kev had several hold ups due to a number of cars crashing out along the stage with the remaining 3 stages being cancelled due to a blocked drain. This was the right decision as safety is priority and with the amount of standing water it was only a matter of time before another accident.

Dean and Robbie 5th overall 2nd in class
Wayne and Chris 8th overall 1st in class
Andy and Harry 24th overall 9th in class
Kev and katrin 33rd overall 3rd in class

This weekend the team were competing at the PHIL COLLINGS MEMORIAL SOUTH DOWNS STAGES at Goodwood Motor Circuit.

Wayne was in his Mk1 Es**rt Mexico with Rob Highmore in the silly seat for his first time as navigator.

The first stage did not go well with a spin, hitting the pallets, incurring a 15 second penalty! The conditions were slippy but as the day went on we managed to climb back up the rankings.

After lunch we switched to supersofts and upped the pace managing to finish 7th overall and 3rd in class.

I would like to say a massive thanks to all the help and support from everyone who was there on the day, Matt Wheeler and Critchlow on the spanners, Kevin Richardson for media and all the sponsors MJG GRITS Isle of Wight sandblasting Mac Tools Isle of Wight North Road Garage IW ltd Groundsell contractors Ltd

Also thanks to the event organisers and the orange army a brilliant event as always.

NEXT all the team will be out at the Weaver Brothers Island Stages in Feb 2026.

Today the Wight Motorsport team was at castle Combe for the DAE Castle Combe stage rally in the MK1 Es**rt was Wayne Hole and Chris Wilson and in the Honda Civic Type R Andy Williams and Harry Samuel.

The morning started off very wet with lots of standing water around most of the stage making it a challenge to get in a decent time, after stage one Wayne had moved up to 10th overall and Andy was up to 46th.

By lunch time the weather was starting to dry out Wayne had been held up by a few cars and had dropped down to 15th with Andy maintaining consistent times climbing up through the mid 40s, as the 2 night stages approached the light faded away and all the rain that had come down during the day has made the twisty technical sections covered in mud from some big offs earlier in the day very challenging, Despite this Wayne and Andy battled through the tricky conditions to finish 10th overall and 3rd in class and 41st overall and 14th in class respectively

Next Saturday the Team are off to Goodwood South Downs Stages with Wayne taking notes from Rob Highmore good luck to you both!

Lastly thank you to all the event organisers and marshal for putting on a great event with out the orange army we couldn’t do the sport we love so much and to all our sponsors for your continued support.
