It’s been a while since I’ve posted here about my offerings. Creative Wellbeing is the name of my business where I host virtual events that promote wellness for the MS and chronic illness community.

Everything on the June calendar is free for you (or people in your network) to join, though some of the partner organizations will ask for a donation if you have anything to spare.

Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis is a charity near to my heart. I live the program, I produce their podcast and I wish that everyone diagnosed knew there were concrete steps they could take to manage their own health.

Invitation to Hope in the Heart of Winter
In the spirit of adding joy to year and coming together, three friends and I are hosting a free virtual gathering this Saturday, Dec., 20, 4:00-5:00 p.m. ET, which we are calling Hope in the Heart of Winter. It’ll be a wonderful mix, each woman leading a different section. Regina Beach will start us off which one of her gorgeous intention-settings and lead us in a few warm-up gentle yoga stretches. Rebecca Sturgeon will lead us through a movement meditation to music called DANCEMandala. Then I’ll lead a short writing exercise on hope. And finally Theresa Kulikowski-Gillespie will close us out with a meditation. It’s going to be beautiful, and I’m super excited. And it’s free!

Had a great time at at last night! 5 comics, £2, and an intimate audience sympathetic to sets in progress. Was it accessible? Mostly. I had my manual chair with me. They have a removable ramp that was quite steep, too steep for me to self propel but luckily I had some great helpers with me. There is an accessible toilet, though it’s behind a very heavy door that’s not automatic. The theatre itself was on the level and the staff was super nice and helpful. I’ll be back!

It’s incredible what happens when you reach out then say yes! I had to go to London for a specialist doctor’s appointment. It’s no small thing for me to travel on the train, with Connie my mobility scooter, on my own. I reached out to the incredible community and my fabulous boss, friend and cofounder of the Salon invited me to ‘s art opening at and it did not disappoint. Amie’s curated guest list was filled with writers, creatives and genuinely lovely people. Her work is impactful here, online, but in person its size, texture and seeing it all together in one place was stunning. Go buy one of her books. And reach out to your people. The universe provides. ✨🌍🎨

26 Bridges is the creative contribution of writers’ organisation 26 to the Bloomsbury Festival 2025. It’s the latest in a long line of inspiring projects from 26.

There are 26 bridges across the River Thames in London. We paired 26 writer/artist pairs with each of the bridges to create work in words and images. These will be unveiled daily between 17 September and 16 October (the eve of the Bloomsbury Festival 2025).

On that evening of 16 October there will be an auction of the works to raise funds for an NHS clinical nurse specialist for skin cancer care at University College Hospital London. We invite you to enjoy the work daily and bid for any you particularly love. All money will go to UCLH Charity, so please be generous.

Bridge: Barnes

Description:
Andy: What struck me about Barnes Bridge was its Victorian utilitarian physicality. The river flows beneath, but what if the bridge was a natural element too? I sketched the bridge, water and clouds with melted candle wax, because it’s hard to control; a loose-limbed approach to mark making, and then I produced a two-colour screenprint. Susannah’s poem perfectly complements this image, her words formed gradually as she regularly strolled over the bridge from southeast to northwest and back again.

Description: A handmade book with the lines of the poem tracing a repeating original linoprint of the River Thames and Chiswick Bridge. The book is Coptic stitched so that it lies flat, making it perfect for journalling, sketching and adding your own thoughts about the space around you.

WATER LANGUAGE

Oars! Oars! Sculls! Oars!
The waterman’s cry echoes through the centuries’ mist
oars, oars, sculls, oars
slipping between ripples of the ebb tide.
Light horsemen hawk a lift on the wherries
Chiswick to Mortlake and back again.

‘Lightening flog it, up the Thames as swiftly jog it.’

Scullers in rowboats so shallow and tickle
great peril and danger, misfortunes and mischances for a cross of the Thames.

‘Some talk of building a fine stone bridge, but these things are yet in embryo.’

Pull! Pull! Echoes in the Portland arches
three for the river, two for the tow.
Oars away. Power in the water.
Let it run in the flood tide.

‘And one from tother hale, and pull, and teare,
And raile, and brawle, and curse, and ban, and swear.’
