Top Flight Races

A week on from the Tartan Games x Top Flight BMC in partnership with Gateshead Harriers and with support from Jarrow & Hebburn AC

We’re reliving those moments…

Funetics, sprints, pole vault, the Junior Fun Run… all building to a huge set of 800m races from U12 through to M65, paced to PBs all over the track.

Freya Brown (Lasswade AC) dropped a stunning 2:05.94 — #4 U18 in the UK — while her dad Andrew Brown (Woodford Green AC) claimed the Age‑Graded win and £100 bonus with 1:58.25 at age 49.
Freya takes home £250 with the win + time bonus.

The men’s headline? A shock overall victory from the B‑race — Samuel Conkie (Vale Royal) smashing a huge PB of 1:52.10 to top the day.

The A‑race turned tactical, championship‑style, ending in a blanket finish with Jordan Phillips edging Magnus Riddle in a dramatic negative‑split burn‑up ⚡

Massive thanks to pacemakers, officials, volunteers, stadium staff, BMC and the full Top Flight team — and to every athlete, parent and spectator who made the atmosphere unreal.

With only five fixtures left in the Top Flight Series, Altrincham 10k is the next stop – and it’s perfectly placed to shake up the overall standings.

The end of the year is stacked – after Altrincham 10k, the series heads to Jarrow 10k, Chester Marathon, and Fulham 10k, before ending just after Christmas at Ribble Valley 10k. Big races, big points, big shifts still to come.

The men’s race remains wide open as Kadar, Omar, Chris Coulson and others are all still in the hunt for the title, and with new events entering the calendar, the series could swing in any direction depending on who lines up.

On the women’s side, Megan Stenhouse is in position for back‑to‑back titles, but with the top eleven all still mathematically able to take the lead, every remaining fixture matters.

It’s going to be quick, it’s going to be exciting racing – but you’d expect nothing less from a Top Flight race 🔥

We’re back in the North East this time next week for the Tartan Games x Top Flight BMC Track Meet at Monkton Stadium in collaboration with Gateshead Harriers & AC.

A full afternoon of athletics:
Funetics (U10/U12), 100m/200m/400m, Pole Vault, Junior 1.2k FunRun, and the Top Flight x BMC 800m for all age groups — with seeded races and a £1100 prize fund.

Fast racing. Big atmosphere. PB‑ready racing.
