We are a charity-run community leisure centre, with a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and 2 gyms.
As a focal point of the Jesmond Community, Jesmond Pool has an unusual history. Originally opened in 1938, the pool was closed by the Council in 1991. Within a year a registered charity and limited company, called Jesmond Swimming Project, was formed to lease the building from the Council, employ staff, and reopen the pool as a public facility. Ever since, the organisation has gone from strength t
o strength, seeing various renovations including the addition of an Activity Room and Fitness Suite. POOL, SAUNA AND STEAM ROOM
You will find Jesmond Pool offers more public swimming times than any other in the area, and features lane swimming, consistent early morning and late evening swimming, 29 degrees C water temperature, full access for people with disabilities, magnificent glass fronted poolside sauna and steam room that overlook the pool hall. Within the pool we offer numerous private and group swimming lessons as well as crash courses for both adults and children from age 3+. FITNESS SUITE
Our fitness suite is a purpose built, air conditioned room, containing over 30 exercise stations. Following the recent renewal of all equipment the Fitness Suite now offers personal TV screens on all CV equipment, more treadmills and cross trainers, a new AMT (adaptive motion trainer), and more specific resistance provision. From self motivated sessions in the gym to instructor lead classes, we're sure you'll find something to suit. ACTIVITY ROOM
This room is used for many activities, including: Aerobics, dance, yoga, pilates, table tennis, meetings, circuits, body toning, holistic treatments, spinning, boxercise, martial arts, tai chi and many others. The room has a sprung floor, is air conditioned and has a roomy comfortable feel about it whether being used for a childrenโs party with a bouncy castle and soft play, or hosting an action packed fitness class. ๐ **He's done it!** ๐โโ๏ธ
Board member **John Mills** has completed another incredible **100-mile ultramarathon**, running from **Edinburgh Castle** to **Glamis Castle**.
The stats say it all...
๐โโ๏ธ **100 miles**
โฑ๏ธ **30 hours 24 minutes**
After crossing the finish line, John told us:
*"I loved every step. The scenery was awesome โ and what a coastline!"*
An incredible achievement, and we're delighted to see John complete another leg of his Rat Race Castle to Castle trilogy. One final 100-mile challenge, from **Glamis Castle to Stirling Castle**, awaits next year.
Most importantly, John is taking on these challenges to raise funds for **Tiny Lives**, supporting families with babies receiving neonatal care.
If you'd like to support John and this wonderful cause, you can donate here:
Congratulations, John, and thank you for taking on another extraordinary challenge! ๐๐

๐โโ๏ธ Theyโve taken to the water again! ๐
Our board member Belinda Whitworth and Chair of the Communications Group, Liz Winn, were back in the open water last weekend as they took on Take to the Water 4km Tweed Swim.
Starting at the A1 Bridges, they swam 4km down the River Tweed, finishing at Berwick RNLI Station after passing beneath Berwickโs three iconic bridges.
The event also raises funds for the Borders Water Rescue Team, making the challenge even more worthwhile.
Weโre sure youโll join us in congratulating Belinda and Liz on another fantastic achievement. Well done, both! ๐๐โโ๏ธ
