FREE Girls’ Dynamos Cricket – four-week programme!

We’re inviting girls aged 8–11 to join us for four weeks of fun, friendly cricket this autumn at Duchess Community High School.

Running every Monday from 21 September to 12 October, each session will focus on a different cricket skill, helping participants build their confidence and ability.

Dynamos is all about having fun, developing a love of the game and making new friends in a safe and welcoming environment – whether your child has played cricket before or is completely new to the sport.

What a way to finish the season! 🙌

Northumberland Women signed off their Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign with a brilliant three-wicket victory over Cumbria at South Northumberland CC.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Northumberland made a strong start with the ball, taking early wickets and keeping the pressure on throughout the innings. Zara Cartmell led the way with an outstanding 3-17 as Cumbria set a target of 195.

In reply, Ciara Boaden gave Northumberland a strong platform with 47 before Scarlett French took control of the chase with a superb unbeaten 61.

With the game still to be won, Scarlett was joined by Aoife McDermott, whose unbeaten 33 helped guide Northumberland over the line and secure the victory by three wickets.

The result sees Northumberland finish fourth in the table — a fantastic achievement following a significant step up for the squad this season.

They’ve shown fight, quality and brilliant team spirit throughout the campaign, and we’re already excited to see what this group can do next season.

Northumberland Women v Cumbria

The team is in for our final game of the season as Northumberland Women welcome Cumbria to South Northumberland Cricket Club this Sunday.

With one last game on home soil, we’d love to see plenty of support from around the county as the women look to finish the season on a high.

Tillside crowned U19 T20 Cup champions!

Congratulations to Tillside, who lifted the Northumberland Junior Cricket League U19 T20 Cup after a seven-wicket victory over South Northumberland in the final at Roseworth Terrace last Friday.

South Northumberland put up a strong fight, with Will Carr leading the way with a half-century, but two wickets apiece for Dan Brassell and Kenny Keddie helped Tillside keep the target within reach.

In reply, Olly Dakers struck an unbeaten 34 before Dan Brassell completed an excellent all-round performance with 50* to help Tillside chase down the total, despite two wickets from Elliott Mee.

The final brought to a close this summer’s U19 T20 competition, which has seen clubs from across the county go head-to-head since the beginning of June.

Congratulations to Tillside and well done to South Northumberland on reaching the final!

A special first for Northumberland Cricket!

Last Friday night, our county disability team played their first game, taking on Cramlington Women’s softball team in a brilliant evening of cricket.

For five members of the squad, it was also their first ever competitive cricket match – making the occasion even more special.

Simon Francis, captain of Northumberland’s Disability squad, said:

“I was honoured to be asked to captain the side for our first match and really proud of how each and every player performed. Everyone played with a great spirit and thoroughly enjoyed it. Special mention must go to Sam for his absolute heroics in the field! A big thank you to Cramlington Ladies for being excellent hosts.”

Creating more opportunities for disabled people to play and enjoy cricket is a really important part of what we want to achieve across Northumberland, so seeing the team out on the field together for the first time was a brilliant milestone.

A huge thank you to all of the players, Cramlington Women’s softball team and Cramlington Cricket Club for hosting us, everyone who came along to support, and coach Paul Roberts for all of his work in bringing the team together.

100 GAMES FOR ALASDAIR 💯👏

A brilliant milestone for Alasdair Appleby, who made his 100th appearance for Northumberland during our NCCA Championship fixture against Staffordshire.

Since making his senior county debut in 2015, Alasdair has become a huge part of Northumberland Cricket and has represented the county across the Championship, 50-over Trophy, T20 competition and Showcase fixtures.

Ali also holds a special place in the Northumberland record books as the first player to score a century for the county in all three NCCA formats – Championship, 50-over Trophy and T20.

From making his debut more than a decade ago to reaching a century of appearances, Alasdair has made a fantastic contribution to Northumberland Cricket – both on the field and as part of the group.

A brilliant week at Barnard Castle for our U14 boys!

Our Northumberland U14s enjoyed a fantastic five days at the BA County Cricket Festival last week, an annual event at Barnard Castle School bringing together county, academy and representative sides from across the country for competitive age-group cricket.

Northumberland finished second in their group, earning a final-day play-off against Dulwich Cricket Club. They eventually fell to a four-wicket defeat, but it capped off a really strong week for the squad.

A summer of girls’ cricket!

This summer, we’re delivering 10 fully funded, girls-only Dynamos holiday camps across the region — and with seven already completed, it’s been brilliant to see so many girls getting involved.

Growing opportunities for women and girls is a big part of what we’re working towards at Northumberland Cricket, and programmes like this are an important part of helping more girls discover and enjoy the game.

A huge thank you to all of the girls who have joined us so far, our brilliant coaches, our host clubs and the ECB for helping us make the programme possible.

We’ve still got two camps to come as we round off a brilliant summer of girls’ cricket.

A brilliant 97 from Olivia Miller was the standout performance as Northumberland Women took on Cricket East last weekend at Southill Park in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Liv fell agonisingly short of a century, with her innings helping Northumberland set a competitive total. Despite a determined effort in the field, Cricket East chased it down to take victory by six wickets.

The game marked our final away fixture of the season, with just one match now remaining – and we’re back on home soil to finish the campaign.
