Today we practised the "leg-grabbing" techniques morote gari and kuchiki taoshi, and practised defending against them by various means, before countering them with throwing techniques such as uchi mata and sumi gaeshi. This was accompanied by a conditioning warm-up, guided free-choice technical practice, and both ne-waza and nage-waza randori.

Last night at Yeshua Judo Academy we worked on a combination involving ko soto gari, o soto gari, uchi mata and juji gatame. This combination utilised feints and directional changes to cause a reaction in the opponent, creating kuzushi and making them easier to throw to the ground, from where they were quickly subdued. We also preceeded this with a fun conditioning warm-up, and afterwards had some time to practice techniques of our choice, as well as the opportunity to implement them in randori.

We had a great session yesterday evening. Following our warm-up and conditioning we worked on hon and kuzure kami-shiho gatame, and two set-ups for ko uchi gari. Then we had some time for free-choice tachi/sutemi-waza practice, and we finished off the session with a good lot of randori, both gi and no-gi. Raihan and Keith were also awarded with their red and yellow belts respectively, which were well-earned.
