Local Community Spaces Fund Spotlight: Kenton Park Sports Centre 💚🏟️

Kenton Park Sports Centre has been awarded £12,200 through our Local Community Spaces Fund via Asda Gosforth to carry out essential maintenance works that will help keep the centre safe, welcoming and fit for the many people who use it each week.

As a charity-run facility in Newcastle, Kenton Park Sports Centre offers affordable opportunities for people of all ages to stay active, connect with others and access health and wellbeing services. Around 1,500 people use the centre every week, including community groups, healthcare providers and local residents.

Our funding will support replacement flooring in key community rooms, installation of a new external shutter, and repairs to a leaking roof above the soft play area. These improvements will create safer, cleaner and more welcoming spaces for exercise sessions, NHS assessments, community activities and family use. 🏠 🔧

By helping maintain this valued local facility, the project will support the continued delivery of low-cost activities, health programmes and community services that bring people together and help reduce social isolation. 🌟

Great summer holiday party this afternoon at KPSC. Brilliant to see all the kids (and adults) having fun 👍 it has been a great 6 weeks and so many people have enjoyed it. We look forward to seeing everyone again 😃

We have been awarded a grant of £12,200 from the Asda foundation to make some improvements to the sports centre.

A massive thank you to Asda for the generous donation to help us make much needed improvements and essential repairs.

And a special mention to the Asda community champion, Michelle, for all the dedication and support you have given to us over many years.

So excited to share the big news from our Asda Foundation. This year they have awarded over £1 million to 73 projects to improve community spaces across the UK. One of them is Kenton Park Sports Centre.

The centre is the heart of the community in Kenton and has been given £12,200. Lots goes on at the centre for all ages and abilities. The group are over the moon with the funding and looking forward to getting started with the improvements to the centre.

So proud to be a Community Champion today. Making a difference in our community is what we do best. Congratulations to the whole team at the centre.
