21 SEASONS. ONE MAN. ONE POSITION🧤
There is something different about longevity in goalkeeping.
To spend 21 seasons in one of the most demanding leagues in the world, you need far more than ability. You need the physical resilience to keep diving, landing, recovering and doing it all again. You need the mental strength to live with mistakes, to carry responsibility, and to walk back out the next week as if the last one never happened.
Manuel Neuer has done exactly that 🤜🏽🤛🏽
He has played at the highest level for two decades. He has represented his country, lifted the World Cup, won almost everything there is to win at club level: moments when many players might feel they have reached the top of the mountain 🏆
But Neuer kept climbing: at 40, he is preparing to put the gloves on for another Bundesliga season. Another dressing room. Another pre-season. Another 90 minutes waiting for him between the posts.
Because goalkeeping is not only about making the save.
It is about resetting ✅
Every goalkeeper knows that feeling: the ball hits the net, the mistake stays in your head, and yet the next cross is already coming. You have to clear your mind, set your feet and be ready again ⚽️
Perhaps that is what makes Neuer’s longevity so remarkable.
👉🏼 21 seasons of resetting. 21 seasons of standing back up. 21 seasons of being ready for the next ball.
And somewhere in this carousel is the 20-year-old goalkeeper who had just begun it all 🔙
Keep swiping back through the years. 👀
How far back can you recognise Manuel Neuer?👇🏼
