🔵⚫️🔴 League 1 – Game 5 🔵⚫️🔴

Back on home soil yesterday as we welcomed Blyth Spartans to Blakelaw.

The pre-match message was simple: play with energy and make smart choices.

A message which looked to have hit home as the lads raced into an early two-goal lead.
However, the opposition responded almost immediately to reduce the deficit.
The madness didn’t stop there though, as we added a third goal to cap off an action-packed opening 10 minutes.
A fourth was added soon after, and it looked as though the lads would be heading into half time with a healthy lead.
The opposition had other ideas, however, as they capitalised on lapses in concentration to reduce the deficit twice inside the final minute of the first half.

Spells of brilliance coupled with lulls in energy saw somewhat of a mixed bag in the first half.

The opposition picked up where they left off and proved a tough nut to crack during the opening stages of the second.
Credit to our lads, who kept plugging away and eventually doubled their lead.
Three further goals followed throughout the half, with the final one coming five minutes before the final whistle.
A somewhat “mature” second-half display saw the lads clinical in attack and disciplined in defence.

Overall, a pleasing performance from individuals and the team as a whole.
A rollercoaster of a first half, followed by a much more emphatic second.

🎉 Happy Birthday Joey! 🎉

Joey, aka “The Bull” 🐂, is one of the OGs of the squad and has been with us since day one.

It’s been an absolute pleasure and privilege to watch him grow, not only as a player but as a person, throughout the years.

From the very beginning, he’s played a huge part in what makes this team what it is, and quite simply, the team wouldn’t be the same without you! ❤️

Here’s to many more years, plenty more goals, memories and laughs along the way! 🥳⚽️

We all hope you have a fantastic day Joey! 🎉

🔵⚫️🔴 League 1 – Game 4 🔵⚫️🔴

On the road this weekend as the lads travelled to Ashington to take on JT Football.

The lads were well aware of the challenge that faced them, with both teams having made strong starts to their respective league campaigns.

Our lads began the game brightly, remaining solid defensively whilst creating chances at the other end.
Neither side were able to find the breakthrough early doors, with both goalkeepers producing crucial saves to keep the scores level.
However, it was Juve who eventually broke the deadlock, as a well-taken corner was bundled home just five minutes before half time to give our lads the lead heading into the interval.

At half time, the lads were tasked with maintaining their effort and energy levels into the second half.
They did exactly that!

It was hard work at times throughout the second half as the opposition began to grow stronger as the game went on.
However, it was a fairly similar story to the first half, with both teams creating chances in spells, only to once again be thwarted by goalkeepers in fine form.
Credit where credit is due, Juve began to seemingly tire towards the end, but they dug in deep, remained a tough nut to crack, and got the reward their efforts and performance deserved with another victory!

Overall, a hard-fought but well-deserved win.
We probably could’ve had a few more goals to boot, but that’s football — and these lads continue to find more when it’s needed!

🔵⚫️🔴 League 1 – Game 3 🔵⚫️🔴

Back-to-back home games for the lads as they took on Ashington Town yesterday, with the aim of maintaining their fine start to the season.

For the third game in a row, the lads made another quick start and established an early lead within the opening two minutes.
However, unlike our previous two matches this season, the lads weren’t quite as relentless in front of goal.
Chances were created, but they weren’t being converted with the usual efficiency.
As a result, the slender lead meant the opposition were very much in the game, and they made sure our lads were aware of that as they levelled before the half-time interval.

The half-time “team talk” was very simple — get back to basics by making smarter decisions and increasing the energy levels.

A sticky 10-minute spell at the beginning of the second half saw the lads embroiled in more of a physical and psychological contest, as opposed to a football match.
However, credit where credit is due, the lads dug deep and, in almost no time at all, raced into a healthy lead.
The opposition rallied themselves, but our lads remained resolute and, in the final five minutes, added a few more goals to the tally to cap off a different kind of performance.

Overall, valuable lessons taught and learnt from.
The lads made it hard work for themselves for much of the game, but were able to recompose in the latter stages, find their rhythm again and ultimately come out on top.

Players – Bobby

Whether he was creating chances for others or himself, Bobby bagged a brace and provided a high level of attacking threat throughout.

Opposition – Grayson: Pinned. Hair

A couple of key saves at crucial moments proved pivotal in providing the platform for the rest of the team to take care of the rest.

Coaches – George

An all-round complete display.
Read the game very intelligently out of possession, as well as registering a goal and assist going the other way.

Well done Bobby, Grayson & George! 👏🏻

Well done lads, had to show a different side of your game in this one, but a job well done in the end! ⚽️👏🏻

🔵⚫️🔴 League 1 – Game 2 🔵⚫️🔴

A second game of the 26/27 season, and a first game at “home” for the lads last night as they took on Blyth Rangers.

“More of the same” was the message before kick-off, as the lads looked to replicate Sunday’s performance levels.

It was another quick start, as the lads found themselves ahead and then doubled their advantage within the opening six minutes.
However, it wasn’t all plain sailing, as the opposition grew into the half as it went on and managed to carve out a couple of chances of their own.
Despite that, our lads continued to spurn chance after chance, until eventually, a minute before half time, a third goal was added.

At half time, the boys were made well aware of what could happen if they began to take their foot off the gas.

A warning seemingly well taken on board, as the second half was even better than the first.
Once again making a quick start to the half, and seemingly finding their shooting boots, as a flurry of goals followed.
Some of the link-up play and intricate passing in and around the box was really pleasing to see.
The lads weren’t done there though, as a further late barrage added the shine to a good all-round performance.

Overall, a pleasing display, with signs of our ball retention improving collectively little by little.

Once again, credit to the opposition, whose spirit and perseverance could not be faulted. 👏🏻

⚽️ League 1 – Game 1 ⚽️

The 26/27 season officially got underway for our lads this morning as they travelled up to Craik Park to take on Morpeth Town 🛣️

Before kick-off, the lads were challenged to produce the energy levels that are so often the catalyst for a positive performance.
Those words seemingly paid dividends, as right from the first whistle the boys started in excellent fashion ⚡️

A flurry of early goals saw the lads race into a commanding lead, and from there on there was no looking back.
Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of the first half was that the boys continued to stick to their principles, both individually and collectively.
It would’ve been easy for them to take their foot off the gas, but they were certainly hungry for more ⛽️

At half time, the lads were challenged to maintain the same energy and enthusiasm that had served them so well during the opening period 🧠

A momentary lapse in concentration saw all the lads caught high up the pitch.
When the opposition regained possession and cleared the ball upfield, their striker was left with a clear run on goal and made no mistake.
From there, the boys responded brilliantly.
They limited the opposition to very few chances in front of goal while continuing to create plenty of opportunities at the other end.
Further goals were added to the tally to round off a fine opening-day display 🌟

Overall, a bright start to a new season in very wet conditions 🌧️😅
The boys demonstrated great ownership throughout, conducting themselves impeccably and, perhaps most importantly, consistently offering positive encouragement to one another 🤝🏻

Credit to Morpeth Town, whose positive attitude and persistence were rewarded with a goal in the second half ⚽️

Players’ M.O.T.M – Bobby

His teammates evidently recognised his dazzling display today.
Bobby quietly goes about his business on the pitch, but his performances are becoming increasingly efficient and effective.
Another excellent all-round display.

Coaches’ M.O.T.M – Charlie

A bright and promising performance from wor Cass.
Asked to play multiple positions without fuss, bagged himself a brace and contributed brilliantly out of possession too.
A very encouraging start to the new campaign.

👏🏻 Well done Bobby & Charlie!

👏🏻 Well done to all the lads.
No doubt tougher tests await, but what a fantastic way to start the 26/27 season! ⚽️🏆
