CHARITY PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY | 5TH SEPTEMBER | 3PM π
On Saturday 7th March, Jack McGhie suffered a traumatic brain injury during a Second Team fixture against Holmes Chapel, following an accidental clash of heads with a teammate in a tackle.
The hours immediately following a brain injury can be critical to the long-term outcome. On that day, the professionalism, expertise and speed of the North West Air Ambulance Charity made an enormous difference. From the treatment Jack received on the pitch to the care and urgency with which they transported him to hospital, there is no doubt that their actions helped save his life.
Following emergency surgery, two weeks in an induced coma, several further procedures and, most recently, the fitting of a new titanium skull plate, Jack is now on the road to making the most remarkable recovery.
That day, the North West Air Ambulance Charity didnβt just save a patient. They helped save a son, grandson, brother, friend, teammate and valued member of our rugby family.
Now, we want to give something back.
