Soreness is an interesting topic

I talk to a lot of people that don’t think a training session has been productive unless they have loads of soreness the next day

Then there are others who are so worried about soreness that they don’t want to push themselves too much when it comes to training

Both are understandable - however the balance is in the middle

We shouldn’t chase soreness, and neither should we aim to struggle to sit down after every session

But sometimes with new exercises or intensity maybe you will be a little sore - but if it’s not there then it doesn’t mean it’s not working

Sometimes the way we phrase someone changes how we perceive it.

The way we use ‘goal’ could be just that

If we change goals to challenges, you may be way more likely to achieve it

So go and challenge yourself

Wether you work at a desk, or just enjoy watching Netflix in the evening - we spend a lot of time sitting.

This can lead to its potential issues - affecting joint health, posture and maybe even your performance in the gym.

Now you could go and get a standing desk, which may help - but really the best things to do are add in random bits of standing over your day and then factor in some strength training as well

It’s not all about the weight you are lifting

A vital part of getting stronger is making the most out of the exercise with that weight. Focusing on technique, and everything else other than increasing the weight

Doing this ensures safer lifting, and also more benefits

Most people wework with in their 40s, 50s and 60s aren’t eating badly. They’re just eating almost all their protein in one sitting, at the end of the day.

Muscle is what keeps you independent later on. Carrying things. Getting up off the floor. Staying steady on your feet. And from your 40s onwards you have to actively give your body a reason to hold onto it.

The fix isn’t a diet. It’s a palm of protein at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Your palm, so it’s already the right size for you 💪
