Today I had the opportunity to gain some new experience as a coach and watch a kickboxing competition. 🥊
One of the athletes competing was an athlete I have the opportunity to work with and help with his S&C preparation.
He put on a great performance, especially considering the extra challenge of competing in a higher weight category. 👊
We’re back to work this week, he has a busy competition schedule ahead with more challenges coming. 📈

Social media is full of exercises designed to look impressive, complicated or “different”. Sometimes more to get views and likes than to actually provide value.
For someone who doesn’t know much about S&C, it’s easy to start believing in magic exercises.
But in reality ⤵️
❌ No, there aren’t 3 magic exercises to fix your joint or mobility problems.
❌ No, there isn’t one best exercise to build strength.
❌ No, you can’t completely prevent injuries. Youcan only reduce the risk.
❌ No, you don’t need to replicate your sport in the gym to improve your performance.
❌ No, exercises don’t belong in universal “top tiers”, they’re tools selected for a specific goal.
Many problems are more complex than social media makes them look and S&C should be individually adjusted to the athlete, their needs, goals and situation.
Good S&C doesn’t need magic exercises. It needs the right tools used in the right context. 🫡
