From The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology - In Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Five Element system that Systematic Kinesiology often draws on, September (autumn) means we're shifting into what's traditionally seen as Lung season — a time associated with breath, and with letting go of what we no longer need.
Try this simple tip: next time you notice yourself feeling frazzled or tight-chested, try a slow exhale that's longer than your inhale — breathe in for a count of 4, then out for a count of 6 or 8. A longer exhale signals to your nervous system that it's safe to relax, and it's one of the quickest ways to take the edge off in the moment.
It takes less than a minute and you can do it anywhere — at your desk, in the school run queue, before bed.
Give it a go next time things feel a bit much, and let us know how you get on 👇
