Late August on the links brings out the truest character of the turf.

With fast-running fairways, firm greens, and golden gorse framing the holes, both the Medal and Ashludie courses are playing in peak summer condition. Designed to test shot-shaping and wind control, the layouts reward patience and creativity over brute force.

There is nothing quite like navigating tight fairway lies on a quiet Angus afternoon.

The opening stretch of the Medal Course at Monifieth hugs the main Aberdeen to London railway line, keeping out of bounds as a lingering hazard all along your right.

Following a gentle starter on a beautifully undulating fairway—a classic feature of the entire layout—the course quickly shifts into high gear over the subsequent holes. This sequence peaks at the superb fourth, where the green sits tucked between sweeping dunes, leaving just a tight opening to thread your approach ball onto the green.

How do you think you'd fair on this historic links course?

We are incredibly proud of Mia, Aimee and Conor for all of their help and enthusiasm throughout the week.

They have been fantastic ambassadors for the Monifieth Junior Golf Academy.
It has been a pleasure to give them the opportunity to watch the best young golfers from the Home Nations in action and to inspire them by showing what opportunities may be available to them in the future.

Where history meets the fairway.

In 1845, Monifieth's original 9-hole course, The Medal, was laid out on the land leased from the Earl of Panmure. Just 35 years later, it was extended to the championship 18-hole layout golfers enjoy today.

As the game continued to grow, so did Monifieth. Our second course, The Ashludie, was established at the turn of the 20th century and expanded to 18 holes just a few years later.

Today, over 180 years of golfing heritage can be found around every corner, making Monifieth Golf Links the perfect stop on Scotland's East Coast for those looking to experience authentic links golf.
