U14s Match Report
🏉 Biggar 56–52 Cumnock
On the road today down to Ayrshire, looking to put last week’s disjointed performance behind us. During the week, we worked hard on defence, pressure, line speed and handling and what a difference a week makes!
After a slow start and conceding an early try, we settled into the game and started to turn the momentum in our favour. Some slick handling, good offloading and strong running saw us put points on the board and take control of the game.
Cumnock came at us with some big, physical runners, but our pressure and line speed allowed us to deal with them well. As the game went on, tiredness started to creep in and Cumnock fought their way back into the game, eventually taking the lead with just two minutes remaining.
That’s when the boys had to dig deep.
We stayed composed, retained possession, made good yards, hit our rucks and kept pushing Cumnock all the way back towards their line. The pressure eventually told, with Cumnock giving away a penalty. We tapped quickly, kept our composure and scored with the last move of the game! 🔥
56–52 Biggar. What a finish!
There’s still plenty to work on our rucking in particular needs to improve, as we were turned over multiple times but every single one of the boys stepped up today and put in a huge shift.
There were also a couple of standout performances… they know who they are! 👊
Bigger and tougher challenges will keep coming, but today was a great step in the right direction.We go again! 💪🏉🔵🟡🔴⚫️
