Ease Stress, Loosen Up,

Try our Ju Jitsu Class

Stress and tension can affect both the mind and body, often showing up as stiffness or discomfort. Gentle movement can help you loosen up, feel more confident, and take a positive step toward a more active routine.

Think of the phrase “you’re a pain in the neck.” When pressure builds up, it can wear you down and show itself physically, leaving the body feeling stiff and guarded.

Stiff shoulders can also contribute to headaches, neck pain, and back pain.

So what can we do about it? Before simply putting up with pain or turning straight to tablets, gentle movement may help. Rotating the neck, shoulders, hips, and knees can gradually restore mobility and build confidence.

If your shoulders feel stiff, gently lift them toward your ears and lower them several times. It can do a power of good — take it from me.

Every session of Ju Jitsu begins with calming, gentle movement to help everyone loosen up and get ready to enjoy the learning experience.

Our Children and Adults class is starting on Tuesday 22nd September at the Fishermead trinity Centre, hall 1 Ask for Tracy from 7pm -7.45pm

Co-ordination is something we use every day, and our Ju jitsu class helps students move safely, react quickly, and build confidence while having fun.

We hear the word co-ordination a lot, but what is it and how can we improve it? A simple exercise is to pat your head and rub your stomach. It sounds easy, but how many of us have managed to get it wrong?

With practice, though, co-ordination improves.

At our adults’ and children’s Ju jitsu class at Fishermead Trinity Centre, we start the lesson with a simple drill: students walk around the room while swinging their arms across the body. Easy, you might say—until they are asked to change direction or walk backwards.

This drill asks students to do several things at the same time: observe where they are going, judge how close the next student is in front of or behind them, keep walking, and continue swinging their arms. That is quite a lot for a simple warm-up.

The skill developed in this drill can be used in almost anything the students do, not just Ju jitsu. As children become more comfortable, extra challenges can be added, such as catching a ball while they are moving.

In the first 10 minutes alone, students are developing awareness, reaction speed, and body-control skills before moving on to the real work of blocking, striking, and rolling. Most importantly, they are learning while having fun.
