π WEEKEND ROUND-UP β€οΈπ
Another weekend, another mixed bag of cricket, questionable decisions and plenty to talk about! π
A massive thank you to Brian Goodger for sponsoring this weekendβs match ball and supporting NBCC! ππ
Brian first picked up a bat in Thornborough, before eventually finding his way to the New Bradwell Sunday 2nds - where, back in 2001, he somehow managed to hit an unbeaten century against Printers. π―
Brianβs also done his bit to preserve local cricket history, having written a book about the history of Thornborough Cricket Club, as well as another about growing up in Thornborough during the 1950s and 60s. ππ
So, from scoring centuries for Bradell to literally writing the history books, Brian has certainly left his mark on local cricket!
Weβd love to see a proper NBCC write up one of these daysβ¦ until then, youβll have to make do with this admin π«‘
π Saturday 1st XI - Lost by 6 wickets
In true Bradell fashion, we won the toss and elected to bat β after all, the grass had actually seen some rain for the first time in months and green was poking through!
Pri top-scored with 47, followed by Captain Josh with 36 off 33, including a six that came very close to one of our solar panels. Thankfully, it survived. βοΈ Will Smith added a steady 34 as NBCC reached 182.
Only one duck β progress considering the start of our season! And Perkins was delighted with his 100% strike rate and not-out percentageβ¦ scoring 3. π
After a very healthy lunch organised by Faisal and Mrs Faisal - mostly Mrs Faisal - featuring sausage rolls, pizza, cookies and doughnuts, the team headed back out into the afternoon heat. πππ©
The first wicket didn't come until the 19th over, in total Chris Wade picked up 3 wickets and Dan Thompson 1 as Old Northamptonians chased down the total with overs to spare.
π Saturday 2nd XI -WON BY 3 WICKETS! π
Despite losing the toss, the team certainly took home the win! ππ
A brilliant bowling performance saw Sai Gireesh take 4-17, with Saikumar taking 3, Amit 2 and Brad 1, as the 2s kept the pressure on throughout the innings.
With the target set, Amit top-scored with 35 before David held his nerve to finish unbeaten on 31 and guide the 2s over the line.
That makes it another win for the Saturday 2s, who are continuing their excellent winning streak - and once again, they were our only winners of the weekend! πβ€οΈπ
π Sunday 2nd XI - Lost by 25 runs
The 2s restricted Road Runners to 204 all out, with Muneeb taking 3, and Oliver, Buddy and Ryan Lambert picking up 2 each.
There were some excellent moments in the field -including Muneeb and Will Smith removing the opener in the first over, and Oliver Goodall running out another batter before he could reach his 50.
With the bat, after a few early departures, Will Smith steadied things with an excellent 55 off 65, while Ryan Lambert added a quick-fire 50 off 40, including 8 fours and a six.
Unfortunately, the chase fell 25 runs short.
π One win, two losses - but plenty of cricket, good food and another weekend in the books.
Now, who fancies explaining to Perkins that 3 not out isn't technically a batting masterclass? π

π WEEKEND TEAMSHEETS ARE IN! β€οΈπ
After last weekendβs rain, weβve had a full week of watching the forecast like a batsman watching the umpire for a no-ball. π§οΈπ
With the weather doing its best to interfere with the fixture list again, weβre hoping the clouds can stay outside the boundary line this weekend! π
A big thank you to this weekendβs Match Ball Sponsor, Brian Goodger, for supporting NBCC and local cricket. πβ€οΈπ
π SATURDAY 1st XI
π‘ Captain Josh Hobson leads the 1s at home against Old Northamptonians CC, with Chris Wade stepping in as vice captain.
Plenty of talent in the squad this week - now let's see if they can turn that into a win! π
π SATURDAY 2nd XI
π The 2s travel to S&L Corby CC, with Captain Alex and, naturally, the lucky coin leading the way. πͺπ
Brad Ratcliffe is back in the squad after helping secure the Sunday 1st XI's second win of the season last weekend. Can he bring some of that winning energy with him?
βοΈ SUNDAY 2nd XI
π The 2s are our only Sunday fixture this week, travelling to face Road Runners CC.
Plenty of the usual faces are back from their holidays and ready to get back into their whites - primarily so they can show off those hard-earned tans. βοΈπ
And facing the Road Runners? Better keep an eye out for any Acme Corporation equipment mysteriously appearing around the boundaryβ¦ ππ¨π₯
Good luck to all three teams - may the weather stay dry, the catches stick and the rain stay firmly off the square! π€πβ€οΈπ
02/09/2026
New month, new week, new fixtures - and somehow weβve reached the final month of league cricket! π Where has the season gone?!
After last weekendβs rain had other ideas, weβre hoping the forecast is finally on our side. π€ With Saturday looking considerably more promising, the teams are hoping to actually play some cricket this time! π
A big thank you to this weekendβs Match Ball Sponsor, Brian Goodger, for supporting NBCC. πβ€οΈπ
βοΈ SATURDAY
π‘ 1st XI host Old Northamptonians CC at Bradwell Road.
π 2nd XI travel to S&L Corby CC.
π‘οΈ SUNDAY
With temperatures forecast to hit around 26Β°C, the Sunday 2nd XI head to Dunstable for a friendly against Road Runners CC.
Weβre keeping everything crossed for a weekend of sunshine, cricket and significantly less staring at the forecast ππ
We hope to see you this weekend at the club! β€οΈπ

ππ AUGUST HONOURS BOARDS! β€οΈπ
August is done, and somehow weβre already down to the final 10 matches of the seasonβ¦ where has the time gone?! π
Plenty of runs, wickets, wins, losses, questionable decisions and general NBCC chaos have made it onto the August boards. ππ
But before we head into the final stretchβ¦
Whatβs been your favourite NBCC moment of the season so far? πβ€οΈπ
Tell us below - we want to hear the highlights! π

π Weekend Round-Up | β€οΈπ
Wellβ¦ Saturday was a complete washout, but thankfully Sunday gave us something worth talking about! π
A big thank you to this weekendβs Match Ball Sponsor, Delders Dogs Ltd ! πΆπ
Delderβs Dogs provide expert training for puppies, adolescents and adult dogs, helping with everything from engagement and recall to fetch and distraction training.
Their award-winning approach helps dogs and owners build confidence and communication skills - something we could probably all use a little more of in the field! πΆπ
π§οΈ Saturday - Rained Off
The 2nd XI sensibly called their home game off early, while the 1st XI trekked over to Kettering Town CC, hoping the rain would pass.
It did not.
After waiting around, the game was eventually called off and the 1s made the soggy journey home.
You have to feel for Andy O, who spent his birthday waiting for a game of cricket that never materialised. ππ§οΈ
Happy belated birthday, Andy. We're sure this is exactly how you wanted to spend it. π
βοΈ Sunday - WON BY 2 WICKETS! π
After a day of enforced rest, Sunday brought much better weather - and the rain had actually done the ground some good!
The 1st XI hosted Stony Stratford CC for their final league game of the season and produced a finish worthy of the occasion.
Muneeb and Brad struck early, removing both openers before they reached double figures, followed by Srikiran with 2 wickets and Andy O with an excellent 4-33 from 6.3 overs, restricting Stony to 228.
The chase got off to a slightly less convincing start. π
Darran (13), Hobbo (9), F. Ahmed (4) and Srikiran (5) all came and went, while Alex's 33 helped keep things moving.
Then came Andy O, batting at 9 - a slightly unusual position for someone who usually bats in the top three for the Saturday team! π
He top-scored with an unbeaten 59*, with Muneeb adding 20 and Brad 18*.
And thenβ¦ THE FINAL BALL. π±
New Bradwell just needed one run to win.
Brad was facing.
Brad hit the ballβ¦
SIX. INTO THE TREES. π³π₯π
Cue absolute scenes.
NBCC win by 2 wickets! β€οΈπ
And, importantly, that's the Sunday 1st XI's second win of the season - a pretty spectacular way to round off their league campaign!
A brilliant finish against our local rivals, and proof that sometimes you don't need to make things easy for yourself when you can just leave it until the final ball. ππ
Delder's Dogs may train for focus and discipline. We clearly prefer drama. πΆπ
Check back at 8PM for the August Honours Boards! π

ππ THE PAT FERGUSON TROPHY 2026!β€οΈπ
New Bradwell Cricket Club have taken custody of the Pat Ferguson Trophy after an exciting T20 Interclub match against New Bradwell St Peter FC! πβ½
There were plenty of surprise performances, a few unexpected cricketing talents, and enough twists and turns to keep everyone entertained. Add in the BBQ, music and a fantastic turnout of supporters, and it made for a brilliant Bank Holiday afternoon at Bradwell Road. ππΆπ»
A huge thank you to Roger Bunce for sponsoring the match ball. Roger was very much a man of both clubs, as well as darts, skittles and pretty much anything else he fancied turning his hand to!
We like to think Roger would have loved being out there on the pitch today β with his pocket radio on his shoulder and a few opinions to share. β€οΈπ
Thanks to everyone who came down and made it such a great afternoon!
Pat Ferguson Trophy: safe in cricketing hands. ππ

π
π Early start, close finish!
An early Bank Holiday morning of cricket saw a properly tight contest, going right down to the final over - with Hobboβs team sneaking it by just 2 runs! ππ₯
Always brilliant to see our rising junior stars out there playing alongside their parents and fellow club players - learning, teaching, encouraging and, most importantly, laughing together. β€οΈπ
A great way to start the Bank Holiday!
Huge thanks to Roger Bunce for sponsoring the match ball for this game. ππ

πβ½ BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY | THE PAT FERGUSON TROPHY β€οΈπ
This Bank Holiday Mondayβs Match Ball Sponsor is Roger Bunce β local Bradwellian, born and bred, and a supporter of NBCC for more years than we probably dare to count! π
After playing both cricket and football, Roger eventually retired to the noble art of umpiring, taking to the pitch with his trusty pocket radio permanently perched on his shoulder. π»π
Although perhaps the radio occasionally distracted him from the cricketβ¦
On one memorable occasion, the opposition appealed:
βHOWZAT?!β
Roger calmly replied:
βNot out.β
β¦before announcing:
βAnd Steffi Graf has just won the first set!β π
Priorities, Roger. Priorities.
π 10AM-ish β Kids v Adults
First up, the kids take to the pitch to teach the adults a thing or two. π
β½π THE PAT FERGUSON TROPHY
Then comes the main eventβ¦
New Bradwell St Peter FC π New Bradwell Cricket Club
But this time, the footballers are playing cricket!
After apparently suffering far too many injuries when they tried playing football, NBSPFC have sensibly decided that cricket is the safer option. π
Weβre not entirely convinced, but weβre happy to welcome them to Bradwell Road for the Pat Ferguson Trophy!
Thereβll be drinks, hot dogs and burgers available, so come down, grab some food, have a drink and enjoy a proper Bank Holiday at the club. πππ»
A huge thank you to Roger Bunce for sponsoring the match balls and supporting NBCC for all these years.
Cricket, footballers playing cricket, kids embarrassing adults and questionable sporting decisions β a Bank Holiday at Bradwell Road has it all. β€οΈππβ½
30/08/2026
Weβre hoping to beat the weather today and actually get a game in- and the NBCC lads are off to a great start with 2 wickets in the first 4 overs!
The bar is open and a warm welcome awaits all spectators- stop by and support the team! ππ»
