After last weeks great result in the Scottish, we again faced experienced opposition this time in GGPFL team Port Glasgow OBU in The WOS Cup 1st Round.
A quick fire start saw us take the lead with two minutes of the start when Finn Bell broke away on the right to play a driven cross across the 6yrd box which was converted by Jamie Lee. Strangely the game then developed into a bit of a scrappy affair for 15/20mins as Port Glasgow tried to drag us into their game which we unfortunately allowed until another quick breakaway again saw Jamie double our lead. When in possession and moving the ball quickly Milngavie showed we can be a really good team and as if to prove that point added a further goal before the break, again with Jamie on the end of it and grabbing a 1st half hatty.
Within 1 minute of the restart Jamie was at it again and grabbed his 4th of the day and it wasn’t too long before he grabbed yet another making it 5-0 with around 25 mins to go. We got a little sloppy at this point and allowed Port Glasgow to grab a breakaway goal although it did seem to be a little somewhat of the offside variety. The excellent Tommy Lawson, who on another day would have been a stick on for MOTM, grabbed a well deserved 6th after a quick one two on the edge of the box with Jamie firing high into the net before Jamie completed the scoring with another good finish to grab his double hatrick. FT 7-1 to the Young Wandies and passage into the next round of the west.
