At SB Ballet & Dance, we know that no two dancers are the same - and we wouldn’t want them to be.

Every child who walks through our doors has their own personality, strengths, circumstances and reasons for dancing. Some simply want to enjoy a class each week, build confidence and make friends. Others love performing and being part of a team, while some have ambitions to take their training further.

That’s why we believe in nurturing every dancer as an individual.

We offer a range of classes, programmes and opportunities so that families can find a pathway that works for their child and their circumstances - whether that’s recreational classes, examinations, competitions, additional coaching or more intensive training.

There is no single “right” journey through dance. 💜

Our job as teachers is to know our pupils, recognise their potential, understand their goals and help them become the very best version of themselves - while making sure their love of dance remains at the heart of it all.

🌟 Summer Training – Jemima 🌟

A huge well done to our lovely Jemima, who has attended the Youth Ballet North Summer School! 🩰✨

Jemima also takes part in Youth Ballet North’s weekly Associate classes, where she is thoroughly enjoying the experience and really thriving within the programme.

It’s wonderful to see her adding this extra level to her classical training — learning from different teachers, gaining new experiences and continuing to develop her technique, artistry and confidence. 💗

✨ SUMMER TRAINING - ELMHURST SUMMER SCHOOL✨

Another two of our wonderful students have been making the most of their summer holidays and furthering their training! 🩰💜

A huge well done to Anna and Fliss, who have both attended the prestigious Elmhurst Ballet School Summer School over the past two weeks.

Anna took part in the Senior Summer School, whilst Fliss attended the Junior Summer School, enjoying the opportunity to immerse themselves in their training, learn from inspiring teachers and dance alongside other talented young dancers.

We are always so proud to see our students Experiences like these are about so much more than just the dancing – they build confidence, independence, friendships and wonderful memories too. ✨

✨ A WEEK AT WHITE LODGE ✨

A huge congratulations to our lovely Fliss, who has spent an incredible week training at White Lodge with The Royal Ballet School as part of their prestigious Summer Intensive. 🩰🤍

What a special opportunity to train in such an inspiring environment, learning from the amazing Royal Ballet School faculty alongside other talented young dancers.

Fliss has come away having learnt so much, made new friends and gained experiences and memories that she’ll carry with her for a long time. 💫

We are so proud of Fliss for embracing another opportunity, working hard and continuing to develop her love for classical ballet.

What a wonderful way to spend part of your summer - well done Fliss! 🩰✨💜

✨ A very special evening at the Le Classique Awards ✨

Last night, our wonderful student Annalese attended the prestigious Le Classique Awards in Blackpool, after being nominated for the Senior Ballet Award. 🩰✨

What an incredible achievement in itself, and such a special evening for Annalese to enjoy! She had a fabulous night dancing, celebrating and socialising with other talented dancers, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way she represented SB Ballet & Dance. 💜 To be recognised at this level for her classical work is something Annalese should be incredibly proud of. 🩰

But the evening also brought a very special and unexpected reunion… 💜

Whilst there, Annalese bumped into the lovely Joan — someone who holds a very important place in the history of SB Ballet & Dance.

Many years ago, when Miss Sarah was just beginning her teaching career, Joan took her under her wing. She gave Sarah the opportunity and space within her own studio to begin teaching and supported and mentored her throughout those early years.

What began with Sarah teaching in Joan’s studio eventually grew and grew, until Joan later sold the studio to Sarah - helping to lay the foundations for the school that SB Ballet & Dance has become today. ✨

It was the start of a very special relationship, and we will always be incredibly grateful for the kindness, guidance and belief Joan showed in Sarah all those years ago. Her impact is still very much a part of our school today. 💜

A beautiful full-circle moment on a very special evening — celebrating one of our talented dancers today, alongside someone who played such an important part in where our journey began. 🥹🩰

MEET THE PRINCIPAL 💜

In 2007, I followed my dream and opened SB Ballet & Dance Studios. What began with a passion for teaching and a determination to create something special has grown into a dance school that I am incredibly proud to call ours.

Almost 20 years later, I still feel just as passionate about what we do and, most importantly, why we do it.

🩰 My passion has always been Classical Dance.

I truly believe that classical training provides the foundation for so many other styles of dance. Through ballet, our pupils develop strength, alignment, control, grace, musicality and technique — skills that they can carry with them throughout all aspects of their dance training.

But my vision for SB has always gone beyond simply creating well-trained dancers.

I want our school to help shape and develop young people.

To provide an environment where children feel cared for, nurtured and inspired to learn. Where every pupil is encouraged to work towards their own personal best, whether they attend one class a week or dedicate much of their time to their training.

From our very youngest dancers taking their first steps with us in Baby Blossoms and Blossom Ballerinas, right through to our senior students, I am passionate about providing training that is age-appropriate, progressive and centred around the individual child.

Today, I am incredibly proud to work alongside a wonderful team of teachers, offering training across Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Commercial, Acrobatics, PBT & Conditioning and Choreography. Our pupils can work towards examinations, perform on stage and, for those wanting to take their training further, become part of our competitive team.

But SB Ballet & Dance has become so much more than dance classes.

It’s community.
It’s friendships.
It’s support.
It’s confidence.
It’s building skills for life. 💜

Watching children walk through our doors, grow in confidence, develop their passion and become wonderful young people is one of the greatest privileges of what I do.

Nearly two decades after opening those doors, I still feel incredibly lucky to share my love of dance with the next generation.

At SB Ballet & Dance, we will always pride ourselves on giving our dancers strong classical foundations and excellent ballet technique — but we also know that today’s dancers need to be VERSATILE!

Being able to switch styles, adapt to different choreography and bring confidence, personality and performance to the stage is such an important part of developing a well-rounded dancer. 🌟

And who better to bring the sass, style and ENERGY than our amazing Stage Dance teacher… Miss Chloe! 🔥

Miss Chloe will be bringing fresh, current commercial choreography, giving dancers the chance to loosen up, find their own style and really PERFORM!
