Great Ayton Lawn Bowls Club

The week started well with a win at home in the friendly against Bedale, but wasn’t the best in the Cleveland Afternoon League with only five points from three matches.

Saturday is Finals Day with the club competitions being played in the morning, with a roll up in the afternoon followed by a pie and peas tea.

Congratulations to our Langbaugh Triples Team who came runners up in their league. They had equal points with the winners but three shots less, hence taking second place.

Mixed fours day competition Sunday 10:30 start.

Cup week this week, as Great Ayton retained the Captain Cook’s Cup when we played Stokesley on Sunday and then yesterday at President’s Day, the President’s team won by 4 shots. 31 of us then enjoyed a high tea. Thanks to everyone who took part in both events.

Saturday is President’s Day when teams representing the President and the Chairman will play each other, followed by tea. This event will start at 14:00 not 10:00 as printed in the fixtures booklet.

A big thank you to everyone who supported our open day yesterday. Some drizzle in the morning reduced our opportunity to give some visitors a try, but a bright afternoon allowed some who returned to have a go and club members to enjoy a Rollup. Thanks to our bakers who provided plenty for the cake stall, which along with the raffle were well supported to add to club funds.
