Full Time: AFC Middleham Town 6-1 Bedale Town
We couldn't have asked for a better opening day at The Castle Ground!
First, a massive thank you to Tony Hewson, who was up at 6:30 AM to give the pitch a final cut before the squad arrived (after cricket only had their last game yesterday) - that graft set the standard for the day! 👏🌱
After a steady opening spell, the lads found their rhythm and started carving out chances.
First Half: Liam Reeves bagged a clinical brace to put us 2-0 up at the break, with Jack Davies providing both assists. 🤝
Second Half: Fresh legs introduced with Matty Leaf and new signing 'Tachie' coming on. Jack Davies thought he'd made it three with a thunderous strike, but a quick word to the ref from the opposition about a shouted "leave it" saw it chalked off! 🤣 (we though he shouted Leafy 👀🤣)
No matter - two minutes later, a flick-on from Dean Perryman set Shawsy through for a lovely lobbed finish for 3-0.
On 77', skipper Will Hewson kept his cool to make it 4-0, before Jack Davies served up a quality cross for Shawsy to head home his second! ⚽️⚽️
Bedale pulled a scrappy one back on 85', but Jordan Iveson had the final say, nodding home a precision corner from Leafy to make it six. 🙌
A qulaity performance all round from each and every player today. 👏
Have to give our GK David Hickin a shout-out also for two incredible saves to keep us in it 💪
