🎉 Brilliant news for Aberfan Community Centre! 🎉

A huge congratulations to the Aberfan Aqua Young at Heart Swimming Club, who have secured a fantastic £18,944 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund! 💧👏

For 25 years, this wonderful club has been keeping local older adults active, confident, and connected. Meeting every Monday and Wednesday morning, the group currently supports 74 members—boosting health and fitness while tackling loneliness through active fun, monthly meals, and coach trips.

To mark this incredible milestone, the Mayor and invited guests joined committee members and swimmers for a special celebration and official cheque presentation.

This vital funding will enhance group activities, support existing members, and help welcome new faces to the poolside. A massive thank you to the dedicated committee for their hard work in creating such a supportive community.

Here’s to many more years of swimming and friendship at Aberfan! 💙

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Halo Leisure in Merthyr Tydfil has been named a finalist for the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Award at the Ukactive Awards 2026! 🏆

This recognition is for our Carers Respite Programme, a project close to our hearts that gives dedicated unpaid carers in our community time to focus on their own physical, mental, and emotional health. From fitness and toning sessions to relaxation workshops and nutrition advice, we're proud to provide a welcoming space for those who spend so much of their lives caring for others.

A huge thank you to our local partners, our passionate team, and most importantly, the incredible carers who inspire us every single day.
