Todays comp ishinryu invitational

Jamal- kata, won every round not giving up a single flag, strong and focussed. 🥇 Kumite at only 6 he lost to the eventual winner aged 9, getting a 🥉 and pushed him. The future is extremely bright for Jamal.

Frankie- Kata strong, focussed and great performance. Finished in 🥉
Kumite- again another great performance fighting through and finishing 🥉

Marley- Wow…. Star man today. Kata won every round in his new older 7-9 catergory as turned 7 this month, took the 🥇
Kumite- even better performance scoring head kicks, punches and body kicks, won à very tight final to make it double 🥇

Fin just Kumite today for Fin, started in his usual bullish fashion but found himself 6-1 down and then he come to life getting back to 6-6…. Other lad had senshu so he had to push and got caught. Lots to be happy with and some bits to work on, took the 🥉

Thurrock invitational comp today.

As always a good comp, thank you to Mark Adams for the invite.

Marley- solid performances from Marley today, took the silver medal in the under 6 Kata, followed up with a Silver in his Kumite. Excellent day for Marley. 🥈 🥈

Jamal- another who at just 6 has a very exciting future ahead of he continues to work hard. He took gold in Kata with a solid performances. In his him fighting catergory he was the youngest, took gold again. A huge talent 🥇 🥇

Frankie- Strong Kata for Frankie today, no medal on the kata. On to the Kumite as loves her fighting, took the gold medal! 🥇

Fin- A solid Kata today, best he has ever done it but sadly beaten by a stronger competitor on the day. Kumite Fin lost a high scoring match on the narrow end of à defeat.

Leo- Kumite Leo today, wasn’t quite at his best but all more experience and Mat time for him at à very young age. He finished with bronze medal 🥉

Halle- Excellent Kata performance from Halle today , getting though rounds to take the bronze. In Kumite Halle got more Mat time and experience taking a bronze on Kumite too. 🥉 🥉

Rex- Solid Kumite performance today, working out where the scoring was to be had on his opponent and then continued to rack the points up. Taking the gold in Kumite 🥇

Sol- bruising encounter in his Kumite, both he and his opponent didn’t hold back, good fight but sadly Sol loses this one.

Toby- good to see Toby in the comps, solid performance from Toby today, losing by the finest of margins. Takes the Bronze 🥉

Lacey- A strong catergory for Lacey today, 3 fights and 3 wins, Rounded off the final with an excellent head kick. 🥇

KDF open in Barking today, mostly tiny ones and we got the following results

Rex - Gold Kumite- 4 fights 4 wins, good fay at the office for Rex today, not giving away lots of height or weight and showed his class to take the gold.

Robyn- Gold X 2 Kumite. First comp for 6 months and hasn’t trained for months for various reasons. 4 fights, 4 fights…. At her best beats anyone.

Younger ones I don’t critique publicly, all on own journeys and all about enjoying it for them. Results

Ivy-Rose- no medal today but trust me her time is coming.

Harlow open yesterday

Left at 6.00am got back at 22.00…. long day and the comp was still going when we left. Very high standard throughout every group. Just the 4 entries all on their own journey.

Halle- never been in this kind of size or level of comp before. Kata beat a very good girl and got through to win bronze medal 🥉 outstanding. Kumite, lost to the winner a very very experienced fighter. Lots to come from Halle and she (and mum) are aware of where we are going this year.

Rex- huge group, lots of talent. First fight he won 4-0, old school 4 perfect reverse punches. I then asked Rex to watch the next fight as he would have the winner, he then told me what tactic he thought would be good…. He got it spot on in every round, important that kids learn for themselves not just become robots. Second round another good performance winning 7-0. Next round a bruising battle winning 3-1 putting him in the semi finals. At 0-0 it went to refs decision, Rex losing 2-1 on flags, I thought he had it but as we discussed don’t leave it to the refs decision win in normal time. A 3rd 🥉 for Rex, very very happy with him. Open weight he was a soent force, with the medal already in the bag his legs was like jelly. Excellent day at the office.

Marino- after big delay didn’t really get going on his fighting yesterday, he knows that don’t need me to nag him. As always game and string but opponent a little to cute for him yesterday. Did pick up a bronze 🥉

Lacey- stepped up yesterday to a new catergory as just turned 16, we have a plan for her and she is on board with it, going to be a tricky 6-9 months as the baby of the group. However lost 6-5 yesterday to a very good fighter at the other end of the group who is soon to be 18 and move up, so this bodes well for Lacey. Looked good yesterday.

All 4 as always make me proud and keep the club on the right path with their achievements.
