Nine years ago this weekend, Rugby Taggers began with one simple idea…
To give my own young children somewhere to run around, have fun and fall in love with rugby.
I never imagined that nine years later it would become what it is today.
Since then, hundreds of children have stepped onto a Rugby Taggers pitch, made new friends, built confidence, developed new skills and, for many, taken their very first steps on a lifelong rugby journey. Seeing so many of those children move on to local rugby clubs and continue playing has always been the greatest reward. That’s what Rugby Taggers is all about – being the very start of that journey.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our Taggers family.
Thank you to every child who has laughed, learned, tackled new challenges and brought so much energy every Saturday morning. You are the heart of Rugby Taggers.
Thank you to every parent and grandparent for bringing your children along, cheering them on and believing in what we’re trying to achieve.
What started as a simple kick-around with my own children has grown into a community that I’m incredibly proud of. There have been early mornings, wet Saturdays, plenty of muddy boots and countless smiles, and I wouldn’t change any of it.
Here’s to everyone who has been part of the first nine years… and to many more children taking their first steps into rugby through Rugby Taggers.
Thank you for being part of the journey. 🏉
