Forest Outlaws Gaming Club

In this very large 6 player game based on the Norman invasion of England in 1066,the smaller Saxon force was tasked with defending the fordable river, bridge and village. With a very long stretch of river to defend the Saxons decided to concentrate their forces on only two thirds of the table. This enabled the Norman massed cavalry to cross the river on their right unopposed. However, despite repeated cavalry charges the Saxon shield wall held, but only just! This proved to be a very challenging scenario for both sides and one which demands a re-fight in the future with players swapping sides from Norman to Saxon and visa versa!

As part of the clubs 6mm Napoleonic Campaign game. After a brief bombardment of the troops guarding the bridge the French attempt to cross the river at Limelette, this attack was halted and repulsed by the British with losses on both sides.

Two recent hex-based Napoleonic games using 6mm Peninsular war armies from January 2026. In both games the French Divisions failed to break the British and Portuguese defensive positions, but we did give it a damned good try! The Hex rules are easy and fast play which fits well with the 3 hour slot available on a club night.

We had a run through of the American War of Independence public participation game on Tuesday evening, which will be presented at the Hammerhead Show at Newark Showground on Saturday 28th February. Anyone is welcome to join in and roll some dice!
