Meet The Community Ep.11 - Callan Kemp

The man with the camera, usually caught running faster than any player on the pitch, whilst somehow managing to capture some of the most impressive photos of the worst-timed facial expressions!

Callan has been around since the very first couple of weeks, helping to create some of our earliest promotional videos and images something that most definitely helped project the team into what it has become today.

Callan is also well known for his footballing ability, earning himself the rather grand nickname “Caldini!” But honestly, he has come on leaps and bounds since the day he first joined us. What started as his first ever experience of kicking a football has very quickly turned into watching him become a genuinely great footballer.

And it’s not just the football, Callan plays with the biggest grin we’ve ever seen! But really, that’s just Callan.

A huge smile from cheek to cheek, a camera in one hand and a Fruit Shoot in the other!

Callan, thank you for being you. Thank you for everything you’ve brought to the team, both on and off the pitch, and for being such a big part of our journey. We couldn’t imagine it without you! ❤️

Favourite team: Notts County as I’ve had the chance to work closely with the football club over the last couple of years.

Footballing icon: Alassana Jatta as he was one of Notts County’s top goalscorers last season and scored at Wembley to help us win promotion to League One.

Favourite song: Any song by Coldplay (especially Politik or Swallowed In The Sea), but any song from the ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’ and ‘X&Y’ albums.

Favourite food: Chicken burger & chips

Best moment for MMFC: Apart from falling over on camera and everyone immediately turning it into GIFs, there have been plenty of great moments but a personal highlight for me was photographing our away game against Pelican Colts FC in Lenton as it was a great day out and amazing weather too. Although the match ended with a draw, it was our first game in Nottingham and close to home for me.

What made you join MMFC: I was really keen to get involved with MMFC from the beginning and be part of the club as it grew. I also felt I could bring a lot of experience in videography, photography, football sponsorships and the commercial side to help promote the club and support a good cause.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would they be: Chris Martin, as I’m a big Coldplay fan and think he’s really knowledgeable and would be interesting to talk to (and I might even get free tickets to a show)

MANSFIELD MIND FIVES | WEEKS 7 & 8

Our social media guy has been just about keeping up with everything else and somehow forgot Week 7 existed... so here’s two weeks rolled into one. Excellent work as always.

⚽ WEEK 7

🟢 Teenage Mutant Ninja Ballerz 8-2 Blue Ballers FC 🔵
Another strong display from the Ninja Ballerz, continuing their perfect start and making it seven wins from seven.

🟡 Minions FC 4-6 Real Socialdads ⚪
A competitive battle between two strong sides, but Real Socialdads found the extra bit of quality to come away with a 6-4 win.

⚫ Raving Ravens FC 5-7 Red & Buried 🔴
A close contest with the Ravens pushing Red & Buried all the way, but Red & Buried held firm to take the points with a 7-5 victory.

⚽ WEEK 8

🔵 Blue Ballers FC 1-9 Real Socialdads ⚪
A dominant performance from Real Socialdads, who continued their impressive form with a convincing 9-1 victory.

🟢 Teenage Mutant Ninja Ballerz 15-4 Raving Ravens FC ⚫
CHAMPIONS! 🏆 Another dominant display from the Ninja Ballerz, with the 15-4 win making it eight wins from eight and officially crowning them the first-ever Mansfield Mind Fives champions! The title is secured, but one question remains... can they complete the whole season unbeaten? 👀

🟡 Minions FC 17-3 Red & Buried 🔴
A huge performance from Minions FC, finding the net time after time to round off Week 8 with an emphatic 17-3 victory.

Your CNCROTARY.COM Player's of the Match for last Saturday's game against Enlighten The Shadows FC were Sam Cairns and Jamie King 🔥

Sam was the referee’s MOTM after a brilliant all-round performance. He was constantly up and down the pitch, putting in important tackles when needed, while also driving forward, linking up the play and making sure we always looked a threat going forward. His Rory Delap style throw-ins were a constant danger too, giving us another real attacking weapon whenever we got the chance to launch one into the box. A massive shift from start to finish.

Jamie was the players’ MOTM after putting in a monumental shift at full-back. He was extremely strong on the ball and caused havoc down the wing whenever he was on the pitch, beating defenders and delivering important passes and crosses. He capped off a superb performance with that all-important goal at the end to put the game to bed.

Well deserved, lads! 👏

A fantastic, hard-fought game in the rain against our friends at Enlighten The Shadows FC.

It’s always a pleasure playing ETS, not only because we know we’re in for a good game, but because we’re playing a team that shares the same message and values around football.

We thought we might be in for a long night after conceding inside the first minute, but the lads responded brilliantly. We dominated much of the next 30 minutes and managed to turn things around to lead 3-1.

From there, it became a proper back-and-forth contest, with both teams creating chances and battling right until the end.

The game eventually finished 7-5, and what a game it was to watch from the sidelines. End-to-end football, plenty of goals and a proper competitive game from start to finish.

A massive thank you to everyone who came down to support both sides despite the rain, it was hugely appreciated! 👏

Always a great game against ETS, and we’re already looking forward to the next one. ⚽🤝

Last Friday looked a little different from our usual weekly session, as we swapped it for an 11-a-side intersquad game.

It’s always a great opportunity to give some of the newer lads a taste of 11-a-side football, mix the teams up and, most importantly, have a good laugh.

It also gave a couple of the lads the chance to step into management, with Brady taking charge of the Black team and Kieran M leading the White team 👏

The game finished 7-2 to the Black team, although the scoreline definitely didn’t reflect the football played by both sides. A competitive game, played in brilliant spirits from start to finish.

Michael Campbell – A rock at the back as always, topped off by steaming forward and absolutely rocketing one in from 30 yards. Some strike!

Rich Kinnaird – A handful on the best of days, but outstanding on the night. Driving through players, constantly pushing the team forward and grabbing a well-deserved goal.

🏆 White

Ben Rotherham – Fantastic on the ball with great feet, weaving his way around players and constantly looking to get his team moving forward. A real threat throughout.

Chris Norman – Mr Consistent. Started at the back, away from his usual attacking role, and absolutely smashed it. When he moved further forward, he was just as difficult to deal with and never stopped causing problems.

As always, a fantastic evening of football, played in the right spirit and plenty of laughs along the way.

An impromptu fixture sees us take on our friends at Enlighten The Shadows FC this evening at Debdale Sports Park.

After a high-scoring match the last time we met, we’re looking forward to another great game against a great bunch of lads.

More importantly, we’re two teams united by the same message, using football to get people talking, break down the stigma around mental health and remind everyone that nobody should have to struggle in silence.

Meet The Community Ep.10 - Corey Ellison

Looking for Corey at a game? He’s usually pretty easy to spot. Candy-floss coloured hair matching the kits each week, cruising up to games in a beach buggy and somehow making the rest of us look painfully ordinary in comparison.

But there’s plenty behind the style too. I’d love to say he makes up for what he lacks in football ability with all that coolness… but annoyingly, he’s actually a ridiculously good footballer too. He never stops running, gives everything every week and always puts in a shift.

There really is only one Corey Ellison, and luckily for us, he’s ours. 💙
