Building Body Awareness 💛

Friday lunchtime is Connor time.

One of the biggest changes I’ve seen in Connor over the last 12 months is his growing proprioception. That’s our body’s ability to sense where it is in space and how it’s moving, without needing to look. It’s a skill you probably take for granted (I know I do) but it plays a huge role in balance, coordination, confidence and feeling at home in our bodies.

Through our sessions, Connor has developed so much more awareness of his body and how it moves. It’s been one of my biggest joys to watch him become increasingly relaxed, confident and comfortable in his own body - approaching movement with curiosity and confidence - this is what yoga is all about for me!

Connor is a young man with a learning disability, autism, CTD (Creatine Transporter Deficiency) and ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder). He’s non conversational, which means he has limited words, but he communicates a lot!

Every achievement takes time, patience and really importantly for Connor, is celebrated, which makes moments like these all the more special.

What I love most though, is the energy he brings. Connor has the warmest sense of humour and a real talent for finding fun in everything we do. Every session is filled with laughter, connection and the occasional unexpected tickle from him!

A few snapshots from today’s adventures 💛

And yes, I did rock out my flamingo leggings today in protest at the days of uninterrupted rain - and it worked! Welcome back sunshine ☀️

You’re welcome.
Happy Friday,
Debs

If I’m honest, when Thursday evening rolls around there’s often a little (sometimes big!) part of me that would happily stay home and get in my PJs...

And yet, every single week, I leave feeling peaceful, grounded and ridiculously grateful for this community.

There’s something really special about this class.

Maybe it’s the cosy studio.
Maybe it’s the gentle Thursday evening energy.
Maybe it’s the lovely, supportive group of humans who show up each week and create such a welcoming space.

We move, breathe, stretch, build strength, we pause and exhale the week out of our systems.

It’s the perfect reset before the weekend begins. A chance to arrive exactly as you are and leave feeling lighter.

Come get involved, every BODY AND MIND welcome!

📞 Your Monday nervous system called. It wants yoga.

Sometimes the kindest (and most rebellious!) thing we can do for ourselves is just pause.

To step away from the to-do list, the constant doing, and give ourselves space to breathe.

That’s what I love about my Monday lunchtime class at in Cheadle. We stop the Monday madness and we slow things down...

We move mindfully, breathe deeply, stretch out any tension, and create a little more space - both physically and mentally.

Then comes that beautiful post-yoga feeling - if you know you know.
(And if you don’t know, more reason to book your spot today!)

We feel clearer.
Lighter.
Grounded.
More joy from the simple things.
A little kinder towards ourselves (and others).

A much softer way to move through your Monday.
(And bonus, that to-do list feels much more do-able in the post yoga state!).

Join me for your lunchtime reset - in the studio or from your own home in Zoom.

🕰️12.15pm - 1pm

Hope to see you there 🙏🏼
In the mean time enjoy your weekend! 💚

What if yoga wasn’t about touching your toes… but how you live your life? ✨

My Monday lunchtime class at and Thursday evenings at are about more than just movement…

Did you know that yoga isn’t just the asana (the postures) - it comes from an ancient framework called the ‘Eight Limbs of Yoga’ (from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali - 2,500 years old!).

And right at the beginning of the Eight Limbs are the ‘Yamas and Niyamas’.

Five of each, not rules, not something to be perfect at. But gentle guidelines to explore how we live and feel our way through these precious lives.

The yamas are about how we show up in the world (ethically, morally, socially) and we practice them in class by:

• choosing kindness over self-criticism (ahimsa - non-violence)
• being honest, without beating ourselves up (satya - truthfulness)
• loosening the grip of comparison and judgement (aparigraha - non-attachment)

The niyamas bring it inward as personal guidelines:
• finding contentment, even in the messy bits (santosha - contentment)
• showing up for yourself when motivation wobbles (tapas - discipline)
• taking moments to pause and notice what’s really going on (svadhyaya - self-study).

In class, this isn’t something I lecture on or we overthink…

It’s something you feel, through grounded movement, breath, and space to just be.

Returning to yourself. Over and over again.
