Manchester United are continuing their search for a defensive midfielder and have made contact with the representatives of Romas Manu Kone.
The Red Devils have already strengthened their midfield this summer with the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, but the club are still looking to add another player in that position.
United are specifically targeting a defensive midfielder with physical qualities and have identified several options as they look to improve their squad ahead of the new season.
Kone is one of the players under consideration, with United holding initial talks with his agents in recent days. However, the French midfielder is not the only name on the club's shortlist, and no decision has been made yet.

Lisandro Martinez has been offered to Atletico Madrid, according to Spanish reports circulating amid ongoing transfer chatter surrounding the Argentine centre-back, who is set to become a free agent at Manchester United in 2027.
The 28-year-old's situation has been a recurring theme in Atleticos rumor mill this window, with Spanish outlet SI Futbol also linking him alongside Viktor Gyokeres, Sandro Tonali and Aurelien Tchouameni as names on Diego Simeone's radar.
Martinez has previously been strongly linked with both Real Madrid and PSG, though United have consistently maintained they'd prefer to extend his current deal rather than sell.
Martinez returned from a serious ACL injury this season and has reclaimed his spot in United's backline, while also starring for Argentina at the World Cup, where he helped the reigning champions reach the semifinals against England.
