Manchester Celtic U8βs Woodpeckers Summer League Match Update β
Wow, what a fantastic effort from the Woodpeckers in their second Summer League match against Dukinfield Tigers! πβ½ Despite only having 5 players available this week, the boys showed incredible determination, teamwork and resilience from start to finish.
The game got off to a brilliant start when Esben scored his first goal of the season with a fantastic strike from the edge of the box. What a way to open his account! β½π Dukinfield responded with an equaliser, but the boys werenβt finished there.
A superb corner from George found Esben in the box, and he calmly finished to grab his second goal of the season β amazing work, Esben! πβ½ Once again, Dukinfield managed to level the score, but Celtics hit back quickly through Leo, who produced a great finish to restore our lead.
The boys continued to battle hard, and after an incredible run the full length of the pitch, Kohen found the back of the net to put Celtics 4-2 ahead. What a goal! β½π₯
There was more drama before half-time when Dukinfield were awarded a penalty after a handball. Up stepped their penalty taker, but Caiden pulled off a brilliant save to keep the boys in front! π§€π Unfortunately, Dukinfield managed to score three more goals before the break, leaving the score at 5-4 to Dukinfield at half-time.
The second half saw the Woodpeckers dig deep with some fantastic tackles, determination and teamwork throughout. The boys never stopped working for each other and continued to create chances. Leo added two more goals in the second half to complete a well-deserved hat-trick, showing great composure and finishing when it mattered most. β½β½β½π
β Player of the Match β
Todayβs Player of the Match goes to Esben. He scored his first two goals of the season, worked tirelessly in both defence and attack, and put in an outstanding performance from start to finish. He was everywhere on the pitch today and thoroughly deserved the award. Keep it up, Esben! πβ½π
Overall, we couldnβt be prouder of every single one of the boys. Playing with only 5 players was never going to be easy, but they showed incredible character, worked hard for one another and never gave up. Their teamwork and determination were outstanding throughout the game.
Well done, Woodpeckers! πβ½π

πβ½ MATCH REPORT β½π
Manchester Celtic U8s 7 β 6 Wythenshawe Celtic U8s
What a game of football!
Manchester Celtic started brightly and raced into a 2-0 lead before Wythenshawe pulled one back to make it 2-1.
The lads responded well and extended the lead to 3-1, but Wythenshawe kept battling and reduced the deficit to 3-2.
Two more goals saw Celtic move into a commanding 5-2 lead, but the visitors showed great character and fought back to make it 5-4.
Manchester Celtic then made it 6-4, only for Wythenshawe to score twice and level the game at 6-6 in what was turning into a real end-to-end thriller.
With the game finely balanced and both teams giving everything, Manchester Celtic found one final goal to secure a 7-6 victory.
Goalscorers:
β½ Vlad x4
β½ Tristan x2
β½ Kohen x1
π Man of the Match: The Entire Team π
Today, the Man of the Match award goes to every single Manchester Celtic player. Every one of the lads was fantastic from start to finish, showing great effort, determination, teamwork and character throughout the game.
A massive well done to both teams for producing a fantastic game of football played in great spirit. Plenty of quality, determination and effort on show from all the players.
Special mention to our lads for showing great character to keep going right until the final whistle and finding the winning goal when it mattered most.
Well done boys! ππ

π’ CLUB UPDATE
As Manchester Celtic FC continues to grow, we're pleased to announce a couple of additions to our club committee for the 2026/27 season.
π Kerrie Malone has taken on the role of Club Secretary alongside her coaching responsibilities.
π Oliver Duke has moved into the role of Club Treasurer and will also continue to support the club as Assistant Secretary.
Having a strong committee structure is vital for any grassroots football club. By sharing responsibilities across dedicated volunteers, we can continue to develop the club both on and off the pitch and provide the best possible environment for our players.
A huge thank you to both Kerrie and Oliver for volunteering their time and supporting the continued growth of Manchester Celtic FC. πβ½π

Another strong performance from our U14s Magpies this morning in a friendly against a side newly promoted into our division for the coming season. We knew beforehand they had a very dangerous striker who usually scores if given even the slightest chance, so we asked Vinny to do a man-to-man marking job β and he carried it out brilliantly from start to finish.
The first half was excellent. We moved the ball really well, created plenty of chances and scored 4 goals, although it honestly could have been more if not for some outstanding saves from their keeper.
The second half was a little less intense as the heat really started to rise, but by then you could see we had worn the opposition down. They sat back for the final 15 minutes and we continued to dominate all over the pitch, avoiding silly mistakes and playing some lovely football with more cracking goals added.
Final score: 9-0 πͺβ½
Goals:
β½ Jacob x3 (technically 4, but one ruled out for pitchside interference!)
β½ Maiben x2
β½ Peter x2
β½ Leith x1
β½ Jack x1
MOTM is shared between:
π
Jacob β for his high-energy performance and goals
π
Vinny β for doing a very tough defensive job absolutely brilliantly
Lots to celebrate across the whole squad today ππ€π€

Manchester Celtic U7 Woodpeckers & Magpies Festival Saturday πππβ½οΈβ½οΈ
What a brilliant run out the boys had today! We attended Levenshulme High School for a fun festival of friendly games, kindly arranged by Kingsway Athletic FC, who did a fantastic job organising the event. π
We decided to split the boys into two mixed teams β Team Kez and Team Chris β giving everyone the chance to bond together and simply enjoy their football. β½
Both teams were fantastic throughout the day. We played 6 matches in total and even had a game against each other! It was brilliant to see all the boys getting involved, enjoying the game, and playing with smiles on their faces. No pressure, just great fun and good vibes π
The sunshine was also on our side, which was an added bonus and really topped off a brilliant day βοΈ
All of the referees involved voted for Players of the Day, and our two nominations went to Tristan and Kohen, who both performed brilliantly and really caught the refereesβ eyes π
Well done boys β you were amazing! ππ
A huge thank you to all the parents for bringing the boys down and cheering from the sidelines. You all play a massive part in the childrenβs football journeys, and your support means everything.
Finally, thank you to all of the teams involved today. Everyone did brilliantly and we are very proud to coach every single one of you π€π€

FT | Manchester Celtic U14s Magpies 6-5 Wythenshawe FC U14s Pumas
An entertaining friendly this morning with plenty of goals and good attacking football on display.
The boys started brightly and deservedly went 2-0 up before conceding two sloppy goals to leave it level at half time. The second half was much better overall, although chaotic at times, with the lead changing hands several times in a real end-to-end game.
Credit to the lads for showing great character to keep responding after setbacks, especially with plenty of rotation and 15 players involved once again. In the end, a deserved 6-5 win, although probably one that should have been more comfortable given our dominance early on.
β½ Peter x4
β½ Leith x1
β½ Declan x1
π MOTM: Declan
A brilliant impact from the bench that changed the dynamic of the game, creating more space in attack and helping swing momentum back in our favour.
Well done, boys π
