Having more lean muscle and less body fat is going to give most of us a better looking, healthier, stronger body that’s going to improve how long you lead a healthy life.

CONSISTENCY ☑️

I used exercise as a tool to alter my state of mind.
I could have chased dopamine from my phone and felt worse.
It’s in those little crossroad moments the difference is made.
I’ve conditioned my mind to choose the path of most resistance.
You can do the same. It just takes becoming conscious and lots of repetition.
Pay attention to the decisions that can move you towards or away from your goal as that’s what will make the difference.

I think I ate clotted cream vanilla ice cream everyday last week. I also trained every day, swam, played cricket, and walked up lots of steep hills.
So I’m heading into this week from a rolling start.
I don’t expect clients to train on holiday. If they have access to a gym I’ll encourage them to use it. If not, I suggest lots of walking to explore where they are. But I then leave it up to them.
For me personally, I choose to exercise when I’m away if I can as it helps me enjoy the holiday even more.
Thanks mum for the one cute picture someone got of me on my holidays.

Where you are right now is likely the result of what you’ve been practising over the past 10 years.
-The foods you’ve eaten.
-The amount you’ve moved.
-How you’ve managed stress.
-How much you’ve slept.
-The people you’ve surrounded yourself with.
-The habits you’ve repeated day after day.
Are you happy with the results of what you’ve been practising?
If the answer is yes, crack on!
If the answer is no, that’s okay too.
Because where you’ll be in 5 years is largely determined by what you start practising today.
-Maybe that’s strength training.
-Maybe it’s walking more.
-Maybe it’s cooking more meals at home.
-Maybe it’s drinking less.
-Maybe it’s putting your phone down and reconnecting with the people around you.
-The future version of you is being built by the choices you repeat most often.
The question is:
What do you need to start practising now to like where you end up?

This is something I’m going to make a habit of.
Lately I’ve noticed a lack of drive and motivation, and I think I’ve figured out why.
I’ve become increasingly aware of how deflated I feel after spending too much time scrolling. To the point where I knew I needed to do something about it.
On Sunday, I intentionally stayed away from social media and kept my phone use to a minimum.
I woke up at my parents’ house and had coffee with them before heading to skate class, where I learned how to transition from forwards to backwards and back out again.
After lunch, I took myself out with my camera, grabbed another coffee, and wandered around MediaCity photographing the dragon boat racing.
The evening was spent walking into town for dinner and meeting a dog called Romeo.
I wasn’t trying to rack up steps, but I ended up doing 24,000 over the course of the day.
What struck me was how much lighter I felt mentally.
When I look back at the day, it makes sense. My mind and body got a lot of things that social media simply can’t provide:
• Human connection
• Movement (even though I didn’t train)
• Learning a new skill
• Creativity through photography
• Time outdoors in the sunshine
• Dinner with company (important because I eat most of my meals alone)
Contrast that with yesterday. An easy workday, much more time on social media, and by the evening I felt completely flattened.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’m starting to wonder whether we’re spending so much time consuming other people’s lives that we’re forgetting to enjoy our own.
Can anyone else relate?

I see people give up far too quickly. Not because they aren’t making progress.
Because they don’t recognise it when it shows up.
They’re looking for the obvious stuff. The number on the scales or a body transformation.
Those things take can months or years to get were you’d like them!
The subtle stuff shows up first.
The gym starts feeling less like a battle.
You naturally make better choices around food.
You feel stronger, more stable and more confident in your body.
The habits that once took effort start becoming automatic.
When you start changing your behaviours, mindset and identity around health, the physical results soon start to follow.
Don’t give up because you can’t see the obvious stuff yet.

You probably already know what’s good for your health.
It’s the obvious things you aren’t doing, compounded over time, that move the needle the most:
Going to bed earlier.
Managing stress.
Getting more steps in.
Drinking less alcohol.
Eating more protein.
Cooking your meals instead of grabbing a meal deal.
Saying no.
Getting outside more.
Just to name a few.
Most people don’t need more information.
They just need to lock down the basics.
Your mindset towards health should be like a piece of software running quietly in the background, constantly nudging you towards the choices most aligned with your long-term wellbeing.
Not always.
Just most of the time.
